Hi,
After installing phpThumbOf 1.3.1-pl on my website (Revolution 2.1.3-pl traditional) everything froze.
I'm using "abs" for link_tag_scheme. You think the "base path prefixing" in latest update 1.3.1-pl has something to do with the crash?
Need help!
Can you give some examples of the URLs generated?

Not really sure how to do that because the front-end part of my website goes totally dead when I install the latest version. Is there a way to get that info inside the manager?
I'm not sure how it's "crashing" your server. I'll need a lot more info about your environment to help.

When I install latest version only the "web" part of my site stops working, manager is still fine. It's not crashing 100%, more like it's stuck in some kind of loop where page never loads completely. I'll try again tonight and see if I can get more information.
Just updated to 1.3.1 on my test site running Revolution 2.2.0-pl2 without any problem. It has either to do with the MODx version or my test site running on a different server.

I've got the exact same problem!
It sounds incredible but it took me a long time to figure out - as soon as i removed the :phpthumbof filter from the placeholders it was attached to, the server stopped crashing when i visited the page.
It had the same behavior on 2 different hosting servers and my own local server.
Something's wrong either with phpthumb or MODx.
i'm willing to help debug this, just let me know what info to provide you with.
MODx version: 2.2-pl2
Phpthumbof version: 1.3.1
The behavior is this: the page loads initially (on a fresh move of the site to that server) but takes ages to load. When it does, the thumbs are created and looking good so phpthumb must be working. When you try to access the page again, it might load a few more times (slower and slower each time) but then it completely hangs and crashes the VPS. CPU usage goes high when the page is trying to load.
I can only test on my localhost because i really don't feel like crashing my production servers again after they've been down for almost a day because of this bug.
EDIT: some additional info: i have the gallery component installed, and it uses phpthumb to resize the thumbnails. Gallery works fine doesn't freeze the page. Only using [+image:phpthumbof=`....`] does that.
Hi ,
Ive got the exact same problem. i've been trying REVO 2.2. throughout the beta's it started after the upgrade of PHPthumb1.3.1 on REVO 2.2.0 pl2 and . My ISP was not amused.
I don't have the gallery plugin installed but it is definitely the phpthumb that crashes the server.
How can i install an earlier version of PHPthumb?
Rdg
EDIT: i just manged to roll back to PhpThumbOf 1.3.0 and the server stays up.
So there is Defintly something wrong with PhpThumbOf 1.3.1

Just experienced this bug as well. 1.3.0 works perfect. Latest does not (server load goes sky high, lots of processes spawned). Even a [ [+img:phpthumbof=``] ] does not work in 1.3.1 so something must be very wrong.

Found the same issue; it was choking on filenames with spaces and/or non-ASCII characters. When I changed the filenames, adding underscores and removing or changing any "special" characters it worked fine. Since the site I'd updated has hundreds of images, I just backed up to 1.3.0 until this gets fixed.
By the way, if you look at the error log report you can find what URL it's trying to generate, or at least the filename it chokes on.
