That message usually means that your configuration file is missing. Did you by chance also delete config.inc.php from manager/includes?

i remove the codes from pages yesterday only and after facing the error(today) i delete it from the server too, it means the error happened before deleting files AND the file which you told is in it’s place.(i checked it)

        thx

Did you check that config.inc.php has your connection data in it (i.e., it’s not blank)? The installer will write that info in there, but if you overwrite it later with a blank file MODx will think you haven’t installed yet and give you this message. If you did overwrite it by accident and don’t have a backup, you can always upload the Install directory again and run an upgrade installation (entering your connection details).

If config.inc.php does have your conection data in it, then doublecheck that it has sufficient permissions to be read and executed by PHP (usually 644, but if your server runs suexec or something like it you may need to use different permissions).

Generally you should use 644 for most PHP files that run as a service (the standard setup). If your setup is non-standard, look at the files that work on your site and set the permissions the same. You may also want to verify that nothing has happened to your .htaccess file also, since the page alias/id issue seems as if it might be a separate issue (you may find that re-uploading all the MODx files except for your config file is the quickest solution).

                Hi,
i changed some permissions and my site is shown well now grin grin.
but i have problem with manager, i see two errors in first page:
modx can’t read CACHE & IMAGES and when i want to preview page an error appears :
                Cannot open file (../assets/cache//siteCache.idx.php)
the permissions of these folders is like other folders(755) and permission of sitecache.idx.php is 644.
                AND
i missed header and menu in IE(7) after adding & deleting js file(which i talked about it at the first of topic).
IE adds some white hairs to my head! wink wink

It sounds as if you are running PHP as a service, so the standard permissions described in the MODx readme and documentation apply. That means that you need to set 777 permissions for the images, export, and cache directories (as well as the files within the cache directory). If you’re confused, review the instructions here: http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Installation_Guide

i did that, problems solved by your USEFUL guidance, but
                    problems continues... grin
i can’t upload or delete or edit files in MODx file manager.
this error appears in file manager:
Upload feature inhibited - make sure uploads are supported and the directory is writable for PHP
would you tell me which folder-permission must change and what permissions?
and would you tell me WHY this problems have occurred?
                    THX

I’ll bet that if you try you can upload files to the assets/images/ folder. That’s because this folder has 777 permissions. You also need to set 777 permissions for whichever directories you want to be able to upload to via the MODx File Manager (e.g., assets/files/).
