As much as I like real books I am with you.
I do not need a large paper book to store somewhere.

And I don't care for doubling the price of a book with the shipping costs, either.

@whistlemaker yes. And I find really A LOT faster studing a pdf, as long as one can create custom bookmarks and long notes (I usually use acrobat pro, but probably it's not the only utility for doing that). And really faster to find what you need. definitely. And links? what about links? And copy/paste code? smiley
pdf forever. paper is only good for novels.

@sottwell: of course. but you know, maybe 2011 is not enough to make it obvious. wink

That has me puzzled; what does it mean?

Hi Hi, pardon. I mean, what you are saying, should be obvious for the publisher. After all, hey, we are in 2011. But it seems it's not enough. Maybe we will have to wait 2020 or so, to have pdf books by default and paper versions as options.. tongue

By the way, I do not write english very well, so I undestand that probably sometimes I'm not so clear. Sorry.

By the way #2: probably the problem about the pdf could be p2p/torrent programs. So.. They're not totally wrong in waiting to publish digital versions, I guess. But... But we really need them! tongue

I have the book and am enjoying it. I would really like to have a pdf version as well and will be happy to pay for it. Bob - bring it on and release the pdf version.

                Thanks!

I can't see piracy being the reason for the delay in publishing a digital version of Bob's book. When the original PACKIT MODx book was published it was also available in PDF format immediately. The danger, as with any technical book, is that by delaying too long newer versions of MODx and Extras will be released making the book out-of-date.

Why a PDF version? Why not EPUB? Makes much more sense…

I'm waiting for the PDF version too. But it's more than a year since this book has been published and the book won't be relevant with MODx developments in that time. I can't even think of having a 700+ pages book with me while I work on my computer.

Shaun Wilkerson's book is not available as PDF too.

Please tell me this not about fighting piracy. Video game publishers have already succeeded in ruining customer experience in their efforts against piracy. I guess the publishing industry is following suit.
