I've used Gallery previously but am having problems at the moment. Gallery 1.2.2 pl installed with no previous versions on this site. The package management system says it installed successfully.

I'm not able to create a new album. After filling info on the Create Album dialog, then clicking Save, the 'please wait' dialong comes up, then goes, but the Create Album remains on screen. It would appear that no album has been created.

I've tried reinstalling the Gallery snippet, to no avail ...

At this stage I'm looking for suggestions

    Thanks

Try to refresh the page when you created the album. 9 out of 10 times it will pop up. smiley Else check you're servers configuration (write access to the directory's needed).

Thanks for the suggestion Benjamin, still no success.

I've changed the file permissions for assets/components/gallery & all the subdirectories to 755. Even tried the same with core/components/gallery & all the subdirectories

        Refreshing does nothing...

Here's the install log - looks to me like everything installed ok:
        Console running...
Attempting to install package with signature: gallery-1.2.2-pl
        Package found...now preparing to install.
        Grabbing package workspace...
Workspace environment initiated, now installing package...
Skipping vehicle object of class modSystemSetting (data object exists and cannot be upgraded); criteria: Array ( [key] => xhtml_urls )
        Successfully installed package gallery-1.2.2-pl

Hoping someone will know what's happening

Does anyone have any suggestions - I've tried everything I know of: re-installing, checking file permissions.

Crazy thing is I have Gallery running in a sub-domain using a separate install of modx, so I know my host setup is right.

Looking back through the forum it seems others have had the problem, but no working solutions have been found, or maybe just not recorded.

          Hoping someone has an answer.

I'm starting to get frustrated now, and desperate. I really need this working in a couple of days.

So far I have tried the following:
            reinstall Gallery
            remove package & reinstall gallery
remove phpthumbsof & gallery packages, reinstall gallery
make sure file permissions of assests/components/gallery/connector.php and all subfolders & files is 755

I still get the problem of trying to create an album, naming it / making it active, clicking save & the dialog stays there. My error log shows nothing. I do have a container resource called Gallery - is that a problem?

Can anyone help? Shaun McCormick, I know you are busy, but any suggestions?

            Thanks anyone who can help.

If the create album dialog window stays on screen but the saving box goes away, that implies something went wrong in the processor. Why it's not showing the error to the user is a good question.

While you have the Gallery main page open, fire up Firebug of Chrome/Safari's developer tools and try to create an album. When you hit "Save" and the "saving" box pop ups you should see a new request to a connector.php file.

Please post the request and response here. Oh and don't paste the HTTP_MODAUTH in the request as that's a security token you should never share smiley

                  Hi Mark,
thanks for looking at this, I had almost given up hope in solving it so had not been checking here as often.

When I opened Gallery in the Component menu this is the error message that showed in the console:

                  POST http://www.robpackerphotography.com/assets/components/gallery/connector.php?action=mgr/album/getNodes&id=root 404 (Not Found)

The connector.php is in that location. I checked in the System setting for Gallery & the paths seem to be right. File permissions for connector.php were 644, I changed them to 755, with the same result.

I'm also having problems with Quip - it came up with the same error in the console.

It seems to be a path or permissions error, but is beyond me.

404? Now that's odd. I would expect either a 200 with access denied or a php error, or a 500.

Trying to view that page myself it also gives a 404 which sounds to me like either that file is not there or some kind of rewriting is going on preventing anyone accessing that file. Permissions 644 should definitely be enough so I'd set that back.

                    Some things coming to mind..
                    - mod_security settings block access to the connector file... host should be able to help with that.
                    - filename is not correct on the filesystem (though that really should be connector.php)
                    - ... no idea.

                      Thanks Mark!
I've just sent a support request to my host - it's Sunday morning here so I'm not expecting a superfast reply.

The filename is correct, I can see the file via cPanel.
