It looks awesome, reminds me of Vanilla Forums. Is that what it is?

No? Why would I be?

I'm new to ModX, have yet to actually start using it. Does it have some sort of forum module, making my question seem silly?

We just - today - converted to Discuss, a forum built in MODX. It will be available as an Extra in 3-6 months.

Yep, you actually can use it today: https://github.com/splittingred/Discuss But be aware that this version is still in heavy development and may encouter some bugs or missing features.

Wow, that should be a great Extra for Modx. For the question, before Discuss, simplemachine was used.
