I tried creating a new template as per the tutorial. But even after saving the template status is UN-Published. What should i do to publish it...
Thanks in advance..
Template does not has Publish/Unpublish options, but a document instead. You need to right-click on document icon in left sidebar and click on Publish.
Hope this helps.

It helped. Thanks zi
When the load ’http://localhost/modx’ url in a browser i get the default MODx template. And to the right under Pages, my other templates are listed. How could i directly load my template using the above URL( http://localhost/modx) as we can do in Joomla CMS
Thanks in advance
And i am facing one more problem. The template i am trying to create is not using the CSS style sheet. I have put the style sheet ’style.css’ in the modx/assets/templates/default folder and i am refering it through link tag as href="style.css". Am i missing something here.....
Thanks,

If the css file is in assets/templates/default/style.css, then your href also must be assets/templates/default/style.css. It’s relative to the location of the index.php file.
As far as using a template, each document has a dropdown menu to allow you to choose what template you want for that document. Or in "system configuration" you can choose which template to use as the default template.
Thanks a lot for the information.......Its working now
Hi sottwell,
I chose my template as default in ’system configuration’. And I got my template loaded for the url ’http://localhost/modx’.
But what happened is all other documents i created were assigned the same default template. I edited the document and assigned the corresponding templates. But now when i refreshed the browser window i got the same MODX defined template loaded. I found it little confusing.
Now if i am creating two different applications with Modx each time i have to change the system configuration to get my application loaded in the browser window...
IS this the only way we can handle templates with modx. Please let me know if there is some other options.
Thanks in advance...

When you change the default system template, there are a few radio buttons to give other options, such as changing all files to use your newly selected default template, or to change only files using the old default template to use the new default template.
You’ll also need to clear the site cache after the change.
I tried with both radio button options. But i did not get expected results. Is there something else which I should check on....
sorry if i am being more bugging with this question. But i am trying to get more knowledge on modx in creating templates or building a site. Previously i was using Joomla to build sites, but it does not provide enough SEO features. I found this CMS and was interested in this as it can provide SEO feature for my website.
If I want to build a live or commercial website which must be Search Engine Optimizable with modx, What is the procedure or sequence of events I should carry out to get the best results.
Can you please shed some light on this....
Thanks......
