shopping around for my first CMS. Currently looking at Joomla mostly. I’m not a coder, very limited HTML skill. Looking at using a CMS for that very reason (ease of maintenance).
One of the needs of the site is a shopping cart. Just trying to assess whether MODx works easily with either Zen Cart or Cube Cart, which are the two carts I’m looking at using...
Interested in any input anyone has on the subject, thanks!

There is not currently any Zencart or Cubecart integrations.

You can style the store to match MODx and then use the MODx API to get MODx to generate the site menu on the ZenCart/CubeCart pages.

Well, I am seriously looking at modX for e-commerce reasons as well.
I wonder how much effort would it take to integrate ModX with osCommerce or other serious Open source e-commerce store?
Ability to do so will open totally new horizons for ModX.

There are several efforts taking place in this area. If you want a MODx native solution to build highly customizable checkout flows for simple ecommerce needs, check out ShopX.

I am interested in a eCommerce solution in MODx but also thought that SHOPx had stalled. I don’t know if Susan has gotten as far as she could or wants or what the status is.
I personally feel that Zen and osCommerce are far too convoluted in terms of customization. I wonder if it would make sense to marry the Ditto/MaxGallery thing with a seperate cart script that could be part of the framework instead of a fork of some feature-soaked cart.
I will have to ok at SHOPx again to see what id can do. There need be a certain amount of flexibility but I don’t think integrations are the way to go.
While I have done a number of Zen installs, I find it bloated with options and features. The dev group has tried to please everyone and the app is now so riddled with choices it is nearly as sad as Miva. You actually need to be Zen to make it work now. Again, I don’t think that integrations are necessarily the best choice here.
All the best,
Jay

"as far as she could" is the operative phrase here. I do think it’s a reasonable start, though, and I hope soon to be able to have some help in finishing it (or rather get somebody with more talent in this area to do it!) I have some ideas for improvement, but it gives me a headache just trying to get what I’ve already done to work!
