    hello
    i’ve get some interrogation.
in the new beta 5, I said than there was a problem whith the preview window too small.
i read than the change set (1805) correct this. But i don’t know how to correct my beta 5. :
do i download files from this : https://mirror1.cvsdude.com/trac/rethrash/tattoo/changeset/1805? and replace them in the modx apps?
(not necessary to use svnX : it don’t work.

second. Why can’t i look, in the manager, my template in WYSIWYG mode? in code ok, but not WYSIWYG.
is the cause of doc manager? tinyMCE? the beta5?

    thank u.

and more generaly : the modX CMS became more and more complicated (for me, i’m not a profesionnal of code).

There will be a release candidate soon that corrects a myriad of issues. See my signature for who MODx is ideally targeted.

        modX is not for me…
modX is made for developers… in PHP and over. Yes that’s right.
i was happy to create my website, to experiment some snippets or tvs. (even when i use some evendone things.). but that’s right it’s ofen confuse to me. never mind.
i go back waiting for new CMS made simple.

        thank you lipsrsealed

ModX is easy. You just have to understand it’s concept. Imho wordpress is a lot harder without that add-on that makes widgets available rolleyes

MODx won’t be for everyone, and that’s OK. You might want to check out the Rethinking MODx discussion as it contains a wealth of historical perspective about what makes MODx "tick".

I think in the end everyone should decide for themselves whether or not MODx is suitable for them. Seems to me, if you’re already using snippets and tv’s you’re experienced enough. But it’s up to you to decide.
(Me I’m originally a designer, not a coder, and I get confused all the time when trying something new in MODx. But I don’t mind that wink )
Thanks for MODx - I love it!

i’m not a "coder man", more a designer too.
where i’m don’t understand the team, is than they are more interesting in the functionality of modX (code …), and how to make a new snippet which be abble to costumize some TV wtih this chunk "via" etc…
tired to run after new functions.

i tried to use a function of Banzai in his template "backinblack". it use scriptularious script. more a chunk or plugin (don’t remember) which made than it don’t works for me. so…
                what else?

i think, modX is not made for designer, but for coders.
                (sorry for english…)

I am not sure I am following you there. I am a designer with just an XHTML/CSS skillset, a just php basics (I can read most of it but not write) and I always found MODx pretty easy to learn (though there is a learning curve to strectch things a bit, I’ll agree to that !). Its strong suit is it lets webdesigners control the output generated by snippets thanks to micro-templates stored in chunks.

I you have a concrete example of a problem, please post it we’ll help you get through it and/or sort out what’s missing for you.

Asking Banzai about it is a good idea smiley

There are as many if not more designers than coders at the core of the community ! Plus, remember categorization is not representative of reality. Some designer are skilled enough in php to write snippet, some coders build great php but also sell webdesign. While I think categorizing is convienient, it should not be perceived as a reality dividing us into subgroups...

There is no WYSIWYG in MODx for creating template layouts, you can make your design in any software you prefer.

If you want to see your template in action, just assign your template to a page and hit that page in your browser.
