Help! Captcha doesn't let me login the manager!

  I’ve turned on Captcha validation, but the code picture is not displaying. So, I even can’t login the manager now! And how can I turn off it in order to login the back-office?
  
  Please help me!
  
  I have to pass the almost ready site to client and I can’t!

  I can understand your frustration.
  Do you have phpMyAdmin ready for your database administration purposes? If yes, go to modx table, and look for "prefix_system_settings" table
  Inside it, look for "use_captcha" under "Setting_name" column. Yours suppose to have 1 as the value, so you need to set it back to 0.
  
  After that, browse through your cache folder, and backup all the files in there, in case something goes wrong. After backing up all the files, clean the folder, and copy all the files located in original MODx distribution package to the cache folder on your site.

  Susan, image resizing is OK, so it seems graphics library is OK too.

  Just had the same problem. Thanks for the fix. I had already changed the setting from 1 to 0, but I never would’ve thought to delete my cache files.

  My server has both GD and FreeType installed and enabled though...
  
  My phpInfo says this for gd:
  

  GD Support:  enabled  
  GD Version:  bundled (2.0.28 compatible)  
  FreeType Support:  enabled  
  FreeType Linkage:  with freetype  
  GIF Read Support:  enabled  
  GIF Create Support:  enabled  
  JPG Support:  enabled  
  PNG Support:  enabled  
  WBMP Support:  enabled  
  XBM Support:  enabled

  
  
  What else might be needed or causing me problems?
  
  FYI: I use CAPTCHA codes on several other accounts on the same host for Etomite sites with no problems.

  I had the same problem (no library missing, no library/php error, but no captcha code).
  I post a quick fix at http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,3861.0.html
  Editing those two files fixed my problem, i hope it will fix yours too
