Anyone used lightbox.js and made it work with modx?

Hey everyone,

I have included lightbox http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox/ into one of my templates, but it’s doing some strange things to my page when viewed in Firefox and IE. Easiest to show by example:

http://www.waterart.com.au/index.php?id=4

Click on the images at the bottom.

In IE, lightbox functions correctly, but the text disapears. You have you highlight it with the mouse to get the text back.

In Firefox, it just doesn’t work well at all.

I have used lightbox before on other sites (non modx) without a problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Trav.

The problem appears to be with your template. It seems like lightbox does not work over flash but I could be wrong. Try creating a page with a mininal template (no flash and just plain text) and running Lightbox. Let us know how that works.

Hi Mark,

Yes it seems your are right http://www.waterart.com.au/index.php?id=6.

I have found an almost fix http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/printthread.php?t=158317. This makes it work in Fox but the text is still missing in IE. Do you think this could be CSS related?

Cheers,
Trav.

I have lightbox working with Easy Peasy Gallery 2, and no such problems have occured. This is still on the default template however.

There are other issues with lightbox (eg with form elements), but I don’t think I’m having the problem you’ve got.

Braininator, can you share? I would LOVE to use that!

I’d love to see a demo if it if you have a URL?

Works fine for me with Firefox 1.5 on Linux.

I’ve just been working with Lightbox gone wild (http://particletree.com/features/lightbox-gone-wild/) for a project I’ve been working on.

I had a problem with the content of the page disappearing in IE after closing the box. I commented out this line in lightbox.js and it seemed to fix it without any noticable problems. I’m not sure how similar the lightbox code is to lightbox gone wild though.

What a feature for a shopping cart checkout module! This I gotta get a grip on! Lovely! And it uses Prototype. Better and better.

Susan, this would be more appropriate for ShopMODx
