I’m at the very beginning trying out modx. How do i assign a snippet to an article from the pull down menu in the page edit area - document settings - tab "snippets"?
    thanx

You must type the snippet into the Content area yourself as that is only a list.

I have always felt that list is pretty pointless.

It would be nice to be able to click a snippet in the list and have it placed in the content area, it completely baffled me the first time round when I click an item and it didn’t do anything.

I’m not sure how difficult that would be though, as i’m assuming it would need some RTE interaction.

          Cheers, Garry

Garry, that would be difficult at the moment because we support multiple RTEs and each uses their own method of inserting html.

The best option would be to have the plugin register the method it must use to insert html and then pass that on to the list.

At the very least how about some kind of directions from the top letting you know it is just a list. Might also be nice to have a note telling you the syntax too. This really confused me the first time I saw that also.

ok that is fun I can add the snippet either to the template or even right into the content!
though my [[UserComments]] appears, it doesn’t execute - - -

And: there is a lot of html and even styles mixed into the snippet. Why can’t we have all the html in the template, calling the functions with template variables?

You probably have activated the cache for the page you are calling it from. Call the snippet uncached with the appropriate syntax :
