    I experimented with Modx a few months ago and was contemplating using it for a site but decided not to. Well, I’m back and just installed 0.9.1 and looking at the demo site that comes with it it appears to be getting worse. Fckeditor does work, menus not working properly, and so on. Is this a proble with Modx or just the included demo site. I like the concept of Modx and would like to use it. Anyone know what the most stable version is and where I can get it?

      0.9.1 is far more stable than 0.9.0.

      I’ve not personally experienced any of the issues you’re speaking of.

        I have installed and/or updated 6 sites so far, from before it was MODx to 0.9.1, on OS X and three different remote servers, with no problems other than the RTE not working in Safari, which is because Safari doesn’t support the necessary javascript. Well, there are a few oddities with Firefox 1.5 Mac version, but that’s known to be buggy as well.

          First, if "FCKeditor does work", how is that a problem? I’m assuming maybe you mean FCKeditor is not working? What is your default language setting? There are several threads dealing with this issue already. And there are some instances of it not getting installed properly on certain MySQL versions. If you do a quick search, you can probably find those threads pretty easily.

          Also, how are the menus not working; I’ve never had a problem with the demo site installation or the menus in it either.

          Finally, what does "so on" consist of? The more detail you can provide in your feedback, the more likely we will be able to address your issues getting started with MODx. If you can provide more environment information, whether or not you selected to install the demo site content, and any other potentially relevant information you can think of, we would love the opportunity to show you how useful and powerful of a tool MODx can be.

            I am using Apache/2.0.55, PHP Version 5.0.5, MySQL 5.0.15-nt , running on Windows XP Prossional. I have reinstall 0.9.1.

            Sorry, I should have said FCKEditor is not working. I don’t see it when editing a page when signed on as site adminstrator in the demo and the site config seems to be set properly.

            Manager Control Panel Problem:
            The top horizontal menu bar contains items Site Content Resources Users Administration My Account Help Logout.
            When I click on an item another horizonal navbar appers below it with option for the selection. Most Items on the top bar work but when I click on users the top bar disappears and I have to close the session to get it back. Since most items except Users work I assume it is a script error.

            FCKeditor problem:
            I read the threads and followed the advise on them before posting this topic.Since I am using the demo site the settings are exactly like they were when I installed it. Enable editor: yes, Editor to use: FCKEditor, Auto Language: No, Toolbar set: Standard. I saved the configuration as reccomended in another thread and changed line 41 of FCKEditor fckconfig.js file to false as suggested(actually line 44 in0.9.1).The default language is english:
            FCKConfig.AutoDetectLanguage = false ;
            FCKConfig.DefaultLanguage = ’en’ ;

            The so on is that I was getting other menu errors ("error in script) I think, but don’t remember exactly what they were.

            Update: I have a version of Modx TP3.2 installed on a remote server and FCKeditor is working, however, I installed the same version on my local server and it does not work. Therefore, the problem seems to be with IE 6 or windows xp, or my local configuration. Any ideas?

              This is very odd, I’ve installed 0.9.1 on Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, using XAMPP 1.5.0-pl1 which consists of:

              + Apache 2.0.55
              + MySQL 5.0.15 + Bug #13783
              + PHP 5.0.5 + PHP 4.4.1-pl1 + PEAR

              I cannot seem to reproduce any of these issues, using Firefox 1.5 or IE 6. Do you have any custom PHP or Apache configuration settings? I’m stumped at this point.

                Actually, my enviroment came from xampp-win32-1.5.0 and the only configuration setting I changed was in apache; I change the location of the server documents from htdocs to another location. I have not applied any Mysql bug fixes however. Could that possibly be the problem. I also can get the lastest sun java if you think that my help. It seems like the manager navbar user item should work if the other items work.

                  Jason, it seems to me that the Internet Explorer that shipped with XP Media Center is different than the one on XP Professional. I installed a live chat system, and it always shows an error in 3 different computer running xp professional, but when I run it on XP Media Center, it works like a charm. Another oddity that I found, when we built a site in my company, there is one website that appears really weird in my boss computer, but it looks just fine on my computer and my friends’ computer. So when we decided to re-format and re-install windows on my boss computer, now everything works just fine. I’m assuming that Internet Explorer like to make a weird behaviour when dealing with Javascript or CSS. Note: the IE version that was installed is the same, but I think there is something wrong with my boss configuration, but I couldn’t figure out where.

                  Anyway, back to your problem, it seems to me that both PHP 5 and MySql 5 is really a challenging environment. If somebody having the same kind of environment, and able to run MODx without any problem or with a problem, please share your experience in here.

                  Thanks

                    Download and installed the latest java runtime environment and it didn’t help.

                      Ok. I downloaded and installed Netscape Navigator and everything is working fine. The problem I’m having must be related to IE 6 running on a local apache server. I don’t have the problem on a remote server. Typical IE behavior. Sure would like to figure this one out! Thanks for the help.
