I just installed MODx (and saved the System Configuration). Shouldn’t I be able Lauch the Sample site that is part of the installation. When I try that ("Lauch Site", or simply go to my web address), it takes over four minutes to come up.
Can you share a link ?
also please provide more details about your server envoirement.
regards,
zi
The site is at www.krueckeberg.org/modx. The admin user/pw is: xxxx/xxxx.
Thanks for the very prompt reply.
Yeah, is very slow here too, though it loads in ~20 seconds or so.
Could it possibly be a php5 issue?

Hmmm,
From the looks of things I think the site renders ok time wise but nothing is shown inside the browser.
You can see this by refreshing the page, when the brwoser title changes hit the Stop button then view the page source.
Btw, I’m using IE6
First of all, Do NOT provide your access details public. It can be risky.
secondly, this is what I got:
1st attempt:
MySQL: 0.0005 s, 3 request(s), PHP: 0.0974 s, total: 0.0979 s, document retrieved from cache.
2nd attempt:
MySQL: 0.0004 s, 3 request(s), PHP: 0.0407 s, total: 0.0411 s, document retrieved from cache.
But page load time in browser is very odd... its weird ! (same in IE/FF)
Test a simple HTML file, if it loads slow too.

zi
might be a broken style sheet or some broken link to a file on the server?
You are using SEF Urls, Did you rename .htaccess file ? (one in MODx directory, other in Manager directory)
Note: As your MODx installation is in sub-folder, make sure you followed the guidelines in .htaccess file in MODx directory.
Hope it helps.

zi

I’ve seen this when there is a missing file before... browser just tries to load until the server time out. View the js console in FF for more information.
