I just install modx on my Macbook pro 10.5.8 running in Mamp. The Modx install all the way but when it gets to the login window I get a error on login (Incorrect username or password entered! Location: http://localhost:80/modx-0.9.6.3/manager/) I get this with .09.6.3 or the new version 1.0.2 same thing. Help Help smiley smiley

I Tried Xammp also and get all the way to the login screen and then get the same thing. Is there a file I have to edit to get the username and password right?

          Hello,

The address you provided above isn’t going to work as localhost creates a loopback connection, so it would be connecting us to our computers if we attempted to use it.

You can use 0.9.6.3, but it’s recommended you use 1.0.2 aka Evolution as it’s the latest version in that branch and has a lot of bug and security fixes. Evolution is just rebranding things in affect it’s 0.9.6.4.

Now, as for your issue I don’t know that I fully follow your problem. Your trying to login to the manager, but your username/password is incorrect? If that’s the case let me ask did you run the installer first? The installer will setup the database and create a login for you to use. If this login isn’t working then you will need to reset it using some of the documentation on the forums (just search reset manager password).

If your just getting started have a look at this site: http://codingpad.maryspad.com/beginner-tutorials/

The beginners corner (third group) will help you setup the testing environment and the first set will help you get started with MODx Evolution.

Note that the username and password are the ones you entered when you ran the install (by going to yoursite.com/install) and they are both case-sensitive.

They’re not the same as the username and password you use to log in to your host’s cPanel or the ones for your database user.

I look around and found a few things in MySql

1.) Under > modx_active_users < in my sql db this is what I have
              username:admin

2.) Under > modx_manager_users < in my sql db this is what I have
              username:admin
              password:3f51e53123f9c28371517f4f4427d525

3.)Under > modx_web_users < in my sql db this is what I have

              username:siteadmin
              password:5f4dcc3b5aa765d61d8327deb882cf99

I can also open the front page fine (i.e. the website ) on my localhost no problem. My username and password that I pick when I install Modx was (username: admin password: 555555)
I keep getting this when I put this in the manager page login

This is not a link just to show what I get
              http://localhost:80
              Incorrect username or password entered!

Can someone help me with this also thanks AMDbuilder and BobRay for your replys

Go back into the MODx DB with PhpMy Admin.

Now open the modx_manager_users table (in MODx Revolution it’s just modx_users) and find the default admin user. Make a note of the username ("admin" in your case). Click on the little pencil to edit that user, enter e10adc3949ba59abbe56e057f20f883e in the password field, make sure blocked and failedlogincount are set to 0 for the admin user, and click on the "Go" button at the bottom. This sets your password to 123456.

Log in as admin with a pwd of 123456.

Then change your password to something more secure and write it down!

The blocked status should expire in an hour (unless you’ve changed that setting) so they shouldn’t make any difference.
