Wordpress Style Archives

I am setting up a blog for my wife [ http://sometwittery.com ] and she wants to have an archive by month, so on the right side you would see the links:

Archive
December 2006
November 2006
October 2006
September 2006
etc...

And clicking the link "November 2006" would bring the viewer to a page with a ditto call listing only pages published on or created on days between Nov 1st 2006 and Nov 30th 2006.

Is there a filter that would let me do this using the &filter parameter?
And, as a side note, is ditto able to generate this list, or will I end up doing it manually with a folder of documents and Wayfinder?

You should take a look at Reflect (bundled with Ditto 1.1b2). It is not yet complete but should easily be able to tackle what you describe.

Thank you Mark, I will give that a shot. good call on the subject line too... I think that is pretty much what she wants is a wordpress or typepad.com style blog. Only she gets the deluxe model! powered by MODx!

Just as a follow up, I wanted to let you know that Reflect worked perfectly for this situation, and I think I might be in love with this snippet

I am still trying to figure out the [+tags+] placeholder for generating links, but I have a custom snippet to do that right now , so no worries.

sorry to hijack this thread, but what exactly does reflect do?

It is the replacement to the [+archive+] placeholder plus much more.

I actually go this to work on my site. It didn’t hurt that I basically "looted" your coding.

How about the handing of new posts? Do all new posts just sit in a folder called Blog

For example

Blog
- post1
- post2
- postXX

Wouldn’t that one folder become a little cluttered after awhile? When I imported my blogger to Wordpress, I imported over 1,500 entries. Would that mean that if ModX ever had that functionality, it would import 1,500 documents in one folder?

What about the backend?
How about dynamically creating folders?

With the option of

Year
- Month
- Posts

Does Ditto support that?

Are there pros and cons as to how Wordpress stores posts than the document model of ModX?
I’m interested in moving my wife off blogger.
