Sorry if this has been covered, but I need a nudge in the right direction. I recently switched to REVO, and I need a snippet so I can quickly publish short news items to a site. Everything I have seen is for EVO. I was thinking getResources may be the what I am looking for?

That is correct. Also take a look at getPage, both are described in rtfm on the getResources page: http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/getResources.

There are alternatives (as always with MODx) but I really like getResources.

You would use getResources to format the news, but to my knowledge there is no replacement for newspublisher (which allows you to login and post news on website). You would need to login to the manager to post news.

Thanks guys, that is what I thought. I was hoping for a NewsPublisher replacement, but I will just have to teach my client to use the manager. All in all, getResource has been fairly easy to use, once I got off my lazy ass and put a little work into it.

          Thanks again

One of these days, I may do a Revo version of NewsPublisher. There seems to be a lot of demand for it, although I think it might be easier to do it with FormIt and a custom hook.

You have no clue how much I would love you for creating something like this... If it supported TV’s too... I don’t know what I would do with myself!

I looked at it last night. I can see why no one has done it. I have it working in a rudimentary way but the datepicker is broken and many of the parameters have no effect. It does create a doc, however.

Supporting all the different kinds of TVs would be quite a challenge.

I wish I knew how to implement the ext datepicker in the front end (not to mention an RTE). The old js datepicker from Evo doesn’t work at all.

I also wish I had a better internet connection. It will take me about 30 minutes for this one post (10 to get to your post, 10 more to get to reply screen I’m on now, and another 10 to submit this reply). I’m stuck here until next week so it will be a while before I can be productive again.

If something could be launched with support for Text, RTE, Image, and File TV’s and then build up to cover other TV types. Do you want to use the backend datepicker, if not there are a few you could add via the frontend.

I would be thrilled if something could be created by the end of the year, heck I may be able to put up some funds to any developer to tackle this thorn in my side!

I’ll take whatever datepicker is easiest to implement. I’ve never done one except with the old Evo code.

I can probably do straight text TV, but anything elses and especially Rich Text is going to be a tall order.

I do have pretty much all the Evo functionality working except that $modx->makeUrl() doesn’t seem to work at all in the front end so it won’t redirect.
