[resolved]Use wayfinder for 2 level documents

Hello,

I now use Wayfinder with this line of code:
[[Wayfinder? &topLevel=`2`]]

And it works great when i am on the first level and open a document that is a container with more documents.
However, when i open this 2 level documents, the wayfinder dissapears and dont show anything anymore.

I want to set it up so its always relative to the first level.

You can see here what i mean:
http://www.domain.com/ (first level)
http://www.domain.com/sharedhosting/ (First level, with sub-documents
http://www.domain.com/aboutcpanel.html (Second level documents within the webhotell container).

At the last page, i want to show exactly the same as i did on the webhotell link..

Any ideas?

the W3C Validator indicates several errors in your HTML source, so better fix them first.

Make sure to have the newest version of [tt]UltimateParent[/tt] (2.0-pl)!
Former versions for Revo didn’t support the [tt]&topLevel[/tt] parameter.
(And - bad enough - the Sample Site you can install via the package manager even in Revo 2.0.7 continues to use an old version without [tt]&topLevel[/tt] support...)

I have now installed ultimate parents, but the menus still dont work as I want them to..
Do I need to change the Wayfinder code also?

I assume part of your tree looks like that:

[tt]Home (1)
|___Forsiden (2)
|___Webhotell (3)
|___Kontrollpanell
|___Garanti
|___Fleksibilitet[/tt]

Then try this call for the right hand menu:
[tt][!Wayfinder? &startId=[[UltimateParent? &id=`[*id*]` &top=`3`]]!][/tt]

Thats correct. Revolution didnt understand [! !], so I changed it to:
[[Wayfinder? &startId=[[UltimateParent? &id=`[*id*]` &top=`3`]]]]

But then I get exactly the same result as I did when I used [[Wayfinder? &topLevel=`2`]]

Sorry, I mixed up the syntax (am mostly using Revo Evo ).
Try the outer snippet call uncached - in revo syntax:
[tt][[!Wayfinder? &startId=[[UltimateParent? &id=`[*id*]` &top=`3`]]]][/tt]

Still same error. if you open up http://www.domain.com/garantier.html, you can see that the menu goes blank.

Maybe what I’m trying to do isnt possible?

By the way: In your first post you used [tt]&topLevel[/tt] as a parameter for [tt]Wayfinder[/tt] ; it only exists as a parameter of [tt]UltimateParent[/tt] .

But now, the wayfinder shows ALL the links, and not only the one inside the container.
under the "Webhotel" container, i want to show Kontrollpanel, Garanti and Fleksibilitet.
While under TestContainer, i want to show Test111.


I’ll bet there is more with the same kind of problem, because alot of sites use this kind of layout.. It bothers me that i cant find a forum thread with the same problem.

I made some tests in my 2.0.7 installation. Leaving out the [tt]&id[/tt] parameter, this worked for me:
[tt][[!Wayfinder? &startId=`[[UltimateParent? &top=`1`]]`]][/tt]

This was crossing with your reply. Maybe the above will have the same result you mentioned.

I had installed my 2.0.7 version including the Sample Site package. If I look into [tt]Elements > Snippets > UltimateParent[/tt] , I find the snippet code is the one of version 1.3, not containing the [tt]&topLevel[/tt] parameter. I tried to install the package for the actual version 2.0-pl (http://modxcms.com/extras/package/?package=475) but did not succeed.
Maybe one of the experts here can comment (perhaps splittingred, the author?) That would be helpful.
