wayfinder question

Hello, after reading whatever documentation I could find, I am still not sure if I understand this wayfinder.
still new to this, so please pardon this ’very newbie’ question!
Anyhow, I have a document tree with folders aka: ’articles/index.php’. I want the ’index.php’ to be linked in the menu, not the folder named ’articles’ I have messed with those setting back and forth for a while, but it will only show the containing folder in the menu, no matter what I do.
Also, how do I set a wayfinder call, to display let’s say just three different document id’s, irrelevant from the main menu?

for example, is there something like a wayfinder call, where I can just drop in the doc id’s I want to show?

Hi, I think this is what you are looking for:

&includeDocs
default: 0
values: [ comma-delimited list of document ids ]
description: Acts as a filter and will limit the output to only the documents specified in this parameter. The startId is still required.

yes, that’s it! I believe I tried that before, and I did now again, but no links show up.
I bet got somethign wrong witht he way I put it together:
[[Wayfinder? &startId=`0` &includeDocs=’24,12,14’]]

[!Wayfinder?startId=`0` &includeDocs=’24,12,14’!]

[!Wayfinder?startId=`0` includeDocs=’24,12,14’!]

none of those works... I am not sure which is the correct way. I took the sample from muddydog, but it doesn’t work either.

You must use backticks ( `...` ) instead of single quotes ( ’...’ ) around your argument values.

thank you! that was obviously wrong! I tried that with the commands below, I am not sure which one to use, but they don’t work with backticks either:
[!Wayfinder?startId=`0` &includeDocs=`29,27,32,20,5`!]
[[Wayfinder? &startId=`0` &includeDocs=`29,27,32,20,5`]]

Try one of these:
[[Wayfinder? &startId=`0` &includeDocs=`29,27,32,20,5`]]
[!Wayfinder? &startId=`0` &includeDocs=`29,27,32,20,5`!]

If you look at your examples none of them are the same. You have to have a "&" precede all parameters in a snippet call and you had startId begin without the ampersand.

Try to use it both cached and uncached. Cached is the first and uncached is the second.

If they still don’t work I would suggest trying it without the &startId and see if it works or try it without &includeDocs and see if that works.

What does your document structure look like? If you are including documents that are not on the top level, this menu will probably not display. The way includeDocs works is that it only adds the pages listed to the menu. So as wayfinder is looping through your document structure it will first loop through all documents with a parent of 0. If any of these are in includeDocs they will be displayed. During this loop it checks to see if any of these documents have children, if they do then it will display those (depending on depth setting). So if you are trying to display sub-documents, you must have the parent show as well, its a limitation to wayfinder at this point.

Thank you SmashingRed, but I think it has to do with what kylej said, since none of those snippetcalls work.
My structure is a normal index page in the root, that points to index pages inside folders, aka
index/studios/index.html
index/members/index.php
asf..
When editing single pages I can only add the containing folder to the links, not the index page.
I guess it can’t be done. But I am curious to see how other people go around this. I can’t be the only one witht his issue, or AM I?

No problem, I learn as much from people correcting me as I do from being right. That’s why I am in the forums all the time.
