This is an alpha prerelease. A lot of things dont fully work. Things might break. DO NOT USE THIS ON A LIVE SITE. But have fun.



Note: those of you upgrading will need to rename tables in DB from discuss_[tablename] to [yourmodxtableprefix]_discuss_tablename <b>BEFORE INSTALLING</b>. For example: change "discuss_boards" to "modx_discuss_boards".

Could you please update current alpha with latest build available, I’ve gone crazy trying to compile Gallery from Git

Suggestion:

I would like to see helpdesk functions built into Discuss as it is being fine tuned.

Seems like it should be a small step from strictly forum software to helpdesk. The exception being that a helpdesk has private threads that can be moved around to different support personnel and kept private between the poster. And usually they are more search centric if a knowledge base is built.

I’m looking at Zendesk as being one of the most public examples.

Not probably until the 2nd or 3rd quarter, unless pull requests come in from folks needing things. We’re focusing on a few other key areas we need for the overall project infrastructure first.

Until a native modx forum addon is available, would you please suggest alternatives or options one can explore??

I’d look really hard at Vanillaforums.org right now. It’s what we’re migrating to and that will work with our MODX user system. Susan has done a Vanilla integration as well.

I’ve read about Susan’s Vanilla integration, any additional comments or assistance people can offer about it would be great...

Are you saying the MODx Forums are migrating to Vanilla forums?

By the way, back when MODx v0.9.2 was the stuff, Vanilla Forums was my top pick for an integration. I like the idea of not having to reinvent the wheel. As long as the wheel can be fully integrated into the product.
