    Hi,

I’m I’m unable to upload images via tinymce. when i try hit the browse button I’m taken to my image folder but this is displaying as if it’s empty even though there are images in it.  If i then try and upload and image to the folder i get the following message when i hit upload Error, "Disallowed file type.". I’m able to create a new folder and i can view this folder via FTP with all the other images that are actually there.
    I’ve tried the following things:

    Enabled friendly URLS
tried making Resource path: and Resource URL: relative and absolute.
tried changing the File Manager Path:
made sure the chmod folder properties are read/write.

Any one have any ideas what else i can change. It’s really strange as there are files there and i can reference them if i input the URL to the image.

Oh and also i’ve using a Mac and have tried FireFox 3 and Safari 3 but i use this on other sites and all is fine.

What i have just noticed is while in FCKeditor - Resource Browser the url at the top starts like /assets/plugins/tinymce3101/mcpuk

But within a site that works i have:  /manager/media/browser/mcpuk
It starts of with the assets/plugins but changes to the above when i click browse but the site that doesn’t work keeps the /assets/plugins

    Thanks in advance

    Ben

      Ben,

In the manager, go to Tools=> Configuration.

On "Interface & Features" Tab: verify if the file type you want to upload is listed in: "Uploadable Image Types", OR "Uploadable Media Types:", OR "Uploadable Flash Types:".

      OR

On "File Manager" Tab: verify if the file type you want to upload is listed in: "Uploadable File Types:".

      I think that’ll do .

      Mc

Thanks for the reply. That didn’t seem to work. It’s only a jpg that i’m trying to upload and that is in the list. It’s also strange that no files are displaying even though there are aload within that folder. I think might be somthing to do with the url that is displaying while in the resoucre manager. /assets/plugins/tinymce3101/mcpuk as the one that works uses has /manager/media/browser/mcpuk

        Thanks

Have you checked the "Resource path:", "Resource URL" and "File Manager Path:" and verified they are pointing to the correct destination? And chmod folder properties for: files, flash, images, media set to 777. I have TinyMCE 3.1.0.1a and I had no problems.

Yeah i’d tried all that and still doesn’t work. I have no problems with any of installs of this modx on other sites and they all use the same hosting.

One thing that has come to mind is modx may of been installed as a .net domain but now that is a map to .co.uk Is there any files i may need to amend?

If i can’t solve this i may have to try reinstalling modx again. Is there a way i can back up the document tree all the content and TV chunks and templates ect. But replace all the other files so everything except what i mentioned are reset back to default.

            Many Thanks

            Ben

You can use the Tools -> Backup feature to backup your database. You also might want to copy your manager/includes/config.inc.php file, and if you have a unique template, the assets/templates folder that its css and image files are in.

Check your user, in the User tab there are some fields for setting individual paths and file types. Make sure the "use system defaults" boxes are checked.

Thanks. This is becoming very frustrating and doing a reinstall is a last resort as everything else works fine but having the ability to upload files is key to any CMS. I’ve compared every setting to a site that works fine and all look the same. I can’t actually upload to the directories via manger, resouces >> file manager. I get the same error that file type isn’t supported, even though .gif is with the supported file field. So this isn’t just related to TINYMCE but the whole install but my install as a whole. I’ve also tried all sorts of file types and not just within images but docs, media ect.

Is there nothing within the .htaccess file i should try amending or any other files anyone knows of as as i said a re install will be my last resort.

                Many Thanks

I’m having this same issue with FCKEditor. I can browser the sub-folders in /assets/files, but I don’t actually see any of the files and I can’t upload any of the allowed filetypes defined in the configuration. Hmph, this was working fine last week. What gives?

Are you able to upload via manager? As i can’t do it via manger or TINYMCE. But manager can see all the files in the folder which i’ve uploaded by an FTP, just can’t add anything new with this. TINYMCE show me that the folder is empty.

Ben, I was having issues with both TinyMCE and the "manager", as you call it. Actually, it’s the same application, FCKeditor Resources Browser.

The good news is that I have a fix for you. Click SECURITY > MANAGE USERS and click on the user in question (e.g. "admin"). Once you’re on the Create/Edit user screen, click the User tab and update the following settings:

                      1) File Manager Path: input the same setting found in TOOLS > CONFIGURATION
                      2) Check all of the "Use System Configuration Setting" options for file types
                      3) Resource path: input the same setting found in TOOLS > CONFIGURATION
                      4) Resource URL: input the same setting found in TOOLS > CONFIGURATION
                      5) Maximum upload size: input the same setting found in TOOLS > CONFIGURATION

That should set you straight. You could also re-create the user in question, as these values may get populated automatically.
