    Hi there,

I am new to Revo but I REALLY love it, great product and great documentation. Unfortunately I was not able to solve this one: I really do not know what I did, but since a few minutes when I go to www.mysite.com/en I am redirected to www.mysite.com. Now, when I go to www.mysite.com/en/something (which is another published document) it works!

As you can see, I am using FURLs. Alias for document #1 is "en" (that makes it mysite.com/en) and e.g. for #3 it is "en/something".

    - Yes, #1 is published. I did not even change the document tonight except adding an introtext
    - What I did was I added some documents and defined the default error page
    - I have an active .htaccess but even if I deactivate that, I still get redirected
    - I took a look at the bug db/forums an there was a similar thing (link - the "Site not active" mesasge doesnt work for me either) but I did not delete or even LOOK at any security related things. I double checked, for document #1 there is nothng set
    - I am using the current Revo (2.0.8-pl (traditional) with PHP 5.2.13, MySQL 5.1.54-log, Linux webhoster, Firefox 3.6 or IE 7
    - I checked the rror_log and it is empty

Okay now what I certainly did was that I changed the document to a container! Okay, maybe that was a dumb thing to do, so I changed it back - and now I am really confused. I do not get the redirect from mysite.com/en to mysite.com anymore, but now I receive my 404 error message!?

In the FURL part the only thing I have changed today was the option to allow upper case aliases, nothing more. I even checked the log!

    Any ideas?!

    Thanks very much!

Uh I just had an idea. Obviously, the 404 error page was set to the default page the whole time until I have changed it today.

So could it be that mysite.com/en actually never worked, but was always redirected to the 404 error page which coincidentally actually IS the right page (document #1)?

If so - why doesn’t that work, when I give a document the alias "en" shouldnt it be accessible via mysite.com/en?

      Thanks,

with you saying you have given the document a alies of en, does going to en.html work with friendly url’s on ?

If so theres a setting in system settings for "Use friendly alias path", you may need to set that to yes

use_alias_path has been set to YES three days ago. When I go to en.html I get redirected again.

WHICH THEN leads me to the funny enough conclusion: the "home" page did actually never work, I was always redirected to the 404 page! I did not notice it before because I only have three other documents which were all set up as a container, so there is no .html appended.

Anyway, we are back to the original question: why do I get redirected from the "home" page to the base url? I don’t get it smiley

OK another guess, does your home page have the id of 1 ??

If not you will have to change the id of thew home page in the settings

Yes, my home page has the document ID #1.

What would be reasons that there is a redirect? I like the option of access issues or any parser issues - but can’t find any evidence for this to be true....

Yes, the home page is published (it works as a 404 error page).

It must have something to do with FURLs - I just deactivated it, and mysite.com/index.php?id=1 works.

Now maybe it has something to do with my .htaccess?

                  It looks like this:

                  RewriteEngine On
                  RewriteBase /

                  #SEO friendly redirect
                  RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} .
                  RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.mysite\.com [NC]
                  RewriteRule (.*) http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L]

                  # The Friendly URLs part
                  RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
                  RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
                  RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

                  And thats it.

What I don’t get it: either FURLs work or they dont work, right? Why shouldnt it work on ONE page?

                  Hmmmm smiley

                    Nope, still doesn’t work: mysite.com/en.html (no container) or mysite.com/en (container) = 404.

Your help is really appreciated, we will certainly solve this one smiley

Edit: I also checked the Apache Error Log - no entries!

The site_start resource has always redirected to the site_url AFAIK..

As long as it’s not actually sending out a 404 status I don’t see the problem? tongue

If you have multiple languages as seperate nav trees you may want to assign a "Home" document in the "en" tree to show "en" in the link for clarity.

Try making a link to your home page from another one using [[~1]] and see what it comes up with - that’s the link MODX thinks the home resource is at.
