    Hello there,

I know a few people have already commented on issues with the Package Management facility, but I think my problem may be slightly different. It had been working fine (I’d already installed 4 different add-ons) until about a week ago, at which point any search would yield: "MODx received a blank response from the provider."

I’ve seen some answers referring to "cURL" (I’ve googled and still have little clue as to what this is) but assume that this isn’t the cause, as everything has been working just fine up until recently.

My set-up gubbins are as follows:

    Modx Revolution 2.0.7-pl (traditional)
    WampServer Version 2.1
    - Apache Version : 2.2.17
    - PHP Version : 5.3.5
    - MySQL Version : 5.5.8

I also currently work in Firefox 3.6.15 but have the same problem using Chrome etc...

    I’m a little stumped!

I assume you updated the Provider URL to be http://rest.modx.com/extras/ instead of http://rest.modxcms.com/extras/ as discussed in these other threads you read?

        Hi OpenGeek,

Yes, it’s exactly the same problem for both providers.

IDK to be honest. All of the older and newer installations I’m trying are working with the old and the new. Did you clear the cache after changing the provider URL by chance?

            Unfortunately, yes, many times.

I’ve just tried again, and perhaps I should’ve mentioned before, but very occasionally a few folders appear on the left-hand side ("Extras" and another two or three I can’t recall), but only to disappear again whenever I search or try to expand the selection.

It’s a long shot, but try deleting the files in the core/cache directory and clearing your browser cache and cookies.

This is the real solution. Only clearing cache in manager didn’t work for all my setups. Hope this is getting better with 2.1 and its improved caching system?

I’ll give that a try, but I’d just like to clarify first - there are a lot of, what appear to be (to a novice like me at least) important files and directories in there.

Do I literally just delete everything within the core/cache/ directory?

Yes, delete all files within that directory.

But I just set up a new installation today and there I have problems with package management even after clearing cache manually. I always get an error message when loading Package management ("error…") and then the folder structure is not shown within modx.com as package provider. I can search for plugins but not browse. cURL is installed and correct REST URL is given.
                    Any suggestions?

Still no joy even after a manual clear-out.
                      huh
