upgrade to 1.0.4 and rich text editor missing

Hi, I’ve upgraded 2 sites thus far (from 1.0.2) and I’m having issues in both with the TinyMCE text editor not appearing in the resource/page edit area. The configuration for the editor is the same except for the TinyMCE update (3.3.5.1 replacing 3.2.4.1). Not sure what I’m doing wrong. I’ve spent hours trying to figure this out. It’s probably something simple that I’m overlooking.

Another issue seems to be aesthetic one but it could very well be related to the editor not showing up. See attached screen shot where the "Edit Resource" header is getting cropped as if the iframe is wonky.

Anyone have a clue? I’m about to drive myself crazy trying to get this worked out.

Goto Plugins section, Elements -> Manage Elements -> Plugins, and see if TinyMCE is enabled or not.

Try clearing the browser cache, force refresh that is.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yep, all is good to go on those counts, config is correct and plugin enabled. Cache cleared and browser refreshed. Just not sure how to proceed from here.

Not sure if this will help but when I perform a clean install I have not problems whatsoever. Only when I’m upgrading from 1.0.2 does this issue present itself. I spent about 8 hours yesterday trying to figure this out. I might just have to take my chances with the security hole in 1.0.2 and restore with the backup. Hope I don’t have to do that but I’m seriously burned out.

you got a folder named "tinymce" in assets -> plugins? (MODx 1.0.4 / TinyMCE 3.3.5.1)

MODx 1.0.2 had the folder named tinymce3241

Yep, I definitely have a folder labeled "tinymce".

Issue resolved.

Looks like it was a conflict with a couple plugins. In this case ManagerManager and TvImageResizer.

Could you please explain what you did to get the tinymce to show up in the plugins tab. I’m having the same issue. I have a tinymce folder in the assets, but the editor is not showing up as a plugin. Do i need to create a new plugin? I’ve been trying to figure this out for hours and cannot find step by step instructions on how to install the version of tinyMCE that is included with Modx 1.0.4.

Please help!

I’m assuming your Tinymce folder (version 3.3.5.1) that comes bundled with the 1.04 installation is in assets/plugins directory correct? Were you upgrading from an earlier version or is this a fresh install? And if I understand correctly, the Tinymce plugin isn’t showing up at all, right? It’s not merely disabled?
