Blank screen after clicking install button

Hi,

I’m trying to install ModX Revolution 2.1.1 and getting the following errors in "core/cache/logs/":

I have set "chmod -R a+rwx *" to grant all the possible permissions to write etc. But still getting this error...
Does anybody know what to do to make it work?

The problem was solved by switching on ’hash’ php extension.

You can ignore those log messages unless you are using the advanced distribution of MODX Revolution.

Yeah,I could’ve ignored these messages if the installation process would’ve finished successfully. But nothing happens after I press "Install" button. All I can see then is the blank screen. And I can’t log in because the "users" table in the database is empty.

Absolutely the same problem: blank screen after clicking install button, MySQL tables created but users table is empty. Install log:

No errors in web-server error logs, no errors on the screen, nothing. Just blank screen.
If I try to enter setup again, it suggest to Upgrade existing install, then — "Core installation was successful", but no users (incl. admin) created.

PHP Version 5.2.10
+ calendar, ctype, curl, date, dom, gd, gettext, iconv, json, libxml, mbstring, mcrypt, mysql, mysqli, pcre, PDO, pdo_mysql, Reflection, session, SimpleXML, sockets, SPL, standard, sysvmsg, xml, xsl, zip, zlib.

Apache/1.3.37 (Unix) PHP/5.2.10

Check your Apache error_log for PHP errors (or where ever your PHP is configured to log errors). It sounds like there is an error and it is simply being logged somewhere else...

Double checked — not a single php error at all. PHP errors are displayed and logged — I have checked these settings, have made a special script with error: all are displayed and logged normally. But MODx still returns a blank page after pressing install button. I uploaded the latest 2.1.2 — same effect. I guess there is some kind of php error suppressed but how can I trace on which string it stops?

Installation summary:

Yes, an error was suppressed. After a little debugging found that the last string executed is

            /* if new install */
            if ($mode == modInstall::MODE_NEW) {

in /setup/includes/modinstall.class.php

the next string is:

                include MODX_SETUP_PATH.'includes/new.install.php';

I placed the code just right before it:

error_reporting  (E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors', 1);

And tadam:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function hash() in /home/orgpmos/orgpmos.ru/docs/core/model/modx/hashing/modpbkdf2.class.php on line 34

For some reason this error was suppressed somehow and nor displayed neither logged.

Now digging deeper...

Yes, the problem was with hash extension was disabled. After enabling it — everything was fine!

So please, add checking of all required modules or at least do not suppress PHP errors to allow people track the errors without digging in all MODx source code...
