    Hey guys,

I’m very glad to introduce Twitx for MODx Revolution. A MODx Revoution 2.03+ native component supporting the Twitter API and tweet management.
Mind you, the project is still in alpha, but I’ll be releasing a copy very shortly. To give you a little idea of what it’s all about:

    • Twitter Feeds on your homepage
    • Snippet and Processor support (AJAX available)
    • Extensive plugin possibilities
    • Caching of tweets
    • User account limitations
    • Resource-to-Twitter submission (plugin)

Tonight or tomorrow I’ll be updating this thread again with more details about the features. Of course, since it’s still an alpha, a complete overhaul will happen eventually, but the functioanlity will stay the same.

    Stay tuned!

I’m not that familiar with GitHub. I tried it once to interface with the GitHub from Shaun but that didn’t work out as planned. I’m going to share it on Google Project with SVN for sure.

MODx is great, but knowing how to use it well makes it perfect!

Less announcements, more releases please! tongue

You keep making us enthusiastic about all these amazing addons... but we never get to see the actual code tongue

Heh, you’re completely right. I’m currently swallowed up developing my accounting component for MODx (closed source) and since it’s the new year, that kinda takes precedence. I’ll create a screencast as soon as I am able.

A little update on this project. I was using an open source Twitter submission engine, but at second (or rather, third) glance this engine is pretty unstable and uses it’s own error reporting, in the form of an PHP native Exception extension. This means that ANY error within the open source script will be handled by that script, and that script alone. In that case, it would completely take over MODx and screw some stuff up.

To create a speedy release, I’ll be creating my own OAuth Twitter engine. Keep in mind that not all functions will be in the first release. smiley My goal is to create a component so awesome that MODx can grab some market back from Wordpress. smiley

I think you’re much much better off using abraham’s twitteroauth:

                      https://github.com/abraham/twitteroauth

I’m using it for my crapreader (twitter...thingy) and works like a charm.
