    Hey what’s up,

I have created a little video demonstration on my new third party component called GalleryGear. It’s a great gallery system for MODx Revolution. Currently it’s alpha and I am cleaning things up for the beta. I’ll make this freely available soon, so be patient!

    Features:
ajax powered - smart and fast
    secure - secure random filenames
    jpg - supports jpg images
region of interest - select the most important region for thumbnail generation manually
organized - organize your photos into categories
drag’n’drop moving - move your photos easily per drag’n’drop in the document tree
easy upload - Use FTP for upload, then simply click the import button and GalleryGear automatically parses an "import" folder on your server for new photos.

Watch it on YouTube (I recommend 720p for watching)

    regards,
    JB

Let’s just say I’m very impressed. I cant wait to see this in beta and onward! Excellent, excellent work!

Is the front-end templatable? Or do you have to use that front-end design you show in the video?

          Hey,

Right now I’m focusing on that part. And I aiming to create two flexible snippets: ggPhotos and ggDualPhotos. ggPhotos lets you output either one pic (via its id) or multiple pics (via their parent id). You may specify a width and a height and the method (either crop or full picture) and also limit the number and set an offset (essential for pagination). ggDualPhotos does principally the same thing but the difference is that you cannot select between crop and full cause it does both. The latter one is for the implementation of some slick fancyboxes. Well ggDualPhotos sounds a bit odd... maybe I’ll rename it when I come up with a better idea laugh

          regards,
          JB

PS: I really appreciate that you guys helped me with these questions I had...

Nice work! This looks really great - not only visually but functionally as well (the perfect combination). Thanks for the work you’ve put in.

              Roll on MODx RC1!

Now if only we could fast-forward time to the Revo release.

                  Hey,

                  thanks!
Mabye... is there anyone out there who has iWork pages and is willing to read through my english manual? Currently it’s only 4 pages with text and I think I did a good job with it but just to make sure that everything is all right with it. And yes eventually it will get more pages. You’ll need iWork pages to turn the track changes feature on and the document is in iWork ’09 format.

                  regards,
                  JB

Great looking module! The only thing I would like to see added is the ability to upload images and zip files directly inside the module. When I start talking about ftp with clients, I see them immediately start to squirm in their seats, and perspire on their upper lip. The bees knees would be the ability to upload a zip file, and have the module extract the images into a new folder. Easy 2 gallery module does this for evolution.

Thats a brilliant idea. I will consider this. But my method though it’s different is just as great. I developped this for a client and I’ve set him fireftp up and I’ve created a ftp account for this one folder. It works flawlessly. But I will consider zip archives in the future.
