I was just wondering what HTML editors had been considered for MODx Revolution? Are the current plans to simply stick with FCKeditor or have others been considered like Xinha , TinyMCE, or openWYSIWYG.

Or will it be a completely in house creation?

You can already install TinyMCE in revolution from the components repo, don’t know about plans for others.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!

Personnally, I’d love to see markitup happen !

Not a wysiwyg editor but it’s so versatile (handles several syntax like HTML, BBCode, Markdown, Textile...) and nicely implemented, plus it would be possible to add modx tags in there (the french blog engine Dotclear has a plugin, so have WordPress, Drupal, EE, Mediawiki, CakePHP and Textpattern) that would make a nice editor to work with for advanced users. It’s jQuery powered too smiley

Markitup is really cool, though I wish it had a WYSIWYG mode for clients. Thanks for sharing David.

It’s the third time i’m talking about this RTE but i really think that you should take a quick look on it. [url ="http://code.google.com/p/lwrte/"]Lightweight Rich Text Editor (RTE / WYSIWYG) for jQuery[/url].

It is possible to create all the desired command and features easily and it is very light.
This solution can be more adapted for front end editing (lighter than tiny MCE) while keeping a Markitup tool for the back end.

markItUp!  Nice.  It looks almost like it was designed around the same mindset as MODx.

It would be nice if this could be implemented into the Template/Snippet/Chunk editors with some custom markup for inserting MODx system variables like Page Title, site url, Content, etc.

I knew when I started this thread, that someone would come back with something I hadn’t seen before.

How about something like this http://www.ephox.com/products/editlive/demo/start.html
Where you can view the colored html mark just like you see in Notepad2
