    Hi guys,

Am I missing something or is there not a backup solution (addon / package or inbuilt) for Revo? Surely I have just missed it and it is somewhere? Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks

You can do some of this with Janitor, http://modxcms.com/extras/package/720. You can back up the database using the included tools but not yet the file system, this is slated for the next release. There’s no actual workflow yet either but putting one together has been raised.

Thanks, so does Janitor backup the file system as well or just the DB?

Janitor looks a little patchy to say the least! Can one backup the DB using Revo itself????? Surely??? Anyone???

            Patchy?
With Janitor you can backup your site manually using SQLBuddy
(same functionality of phpMyAdmin) or schedule backups (daily,
weekly, monthly... whatever you like) with phpMyBackupPro...

Hi guys, has anyone thought about a comprehensive backup solution for Revo yet? Seems like a big missing whole at the moment, for me the ideal solution would be a simple UI that allows user to once logged in to the manager hit the backup button which then performs an SQL dump of the database and all the files in the relevant folders that make up the install.

Anyone got any idea when this will be available? I have Janitor installed but do not see this as a permanent solution as it only backups up the DB and does not form part of the core MODx UI.

              Cheers,

In the next Janitor release you’ll be able to zip up the file system as well, but you’ll have to do a backup as part of a workflow, e.g backup the database, zip up the file system etc. so its not a single intelligent button press that a dedicated tool would bring you. I’m not sure why it needs to be in the core UI, if install a 3PC it becomes part of your core installation does it not.

Thanks shamblett - good news about the next release - any idea when it will be out?

RE: making it into the core UI, I feel something as important as Backing-up should be part of the core MODx UI / functions - not an addon - it was in Evo so can’t really understand how it did not make it into REVO when it is such an important and core function... Any MODx peeps up for adding in a backup solution to the core UI in the next .dot release of REVO?

I’ll try and push this out in the next few weeks, maybe earlier.

From what I’m seeing, a serious Revo backup solution will need to be able to backup by context as well. Although I have yet to discover if elements can be associated to a given context.
