Provider not specified. Issues

Does anyone know why there are intermittent outages for the Package download? 2.0.2 seems to be crapping out on the package manager calls. Not sure why, but no matter what I do, there is no provider selected. I have no way to select this. Earlier today, I was able to download, now I can’t.

Note: If you’re posting about a bug, please state all of your Environment information in your post: Version of MODx, Traditional or Advanced distribution (for Revo), Server OS, Server Version, PHP Version, MySQL Version (client and server), is pdo_mysql installed, your Browser type and version, if you are using any opcode caching such as eAccelerator, APC, winCache, xCache, etc; any relevant errors in core/cache/logs/error.log, and any other environment data we should know. We can’t help you without that information.

Also, try clearing your browser cache and clicking "Download Extras" instead of "Add New Package".

I get the same thing no matter which button I click.

I’m using 2.0.2pl traditional
PHP 5.2.14
Linux CentOS and Apache (shared host)
MySQL 5.1
Using Firefox 3.6.10
I’m fairly certain pdo_mysql is installed

no Opcode

With 2.0.0 I never had a problem.

I had the same issues with 2.0.2-pl and hopefully did a fresh installation (no upgrade) of 2.0.3-pl, but nothing has changed. I always get "Provider not specified".

I searched the forums and saw the note about a) possible issues with Vista 64-bit and b) needing to have cUrl or sockets installed. In my case there wasn’t any issue on install and sockets are installed. Didn’t see any mention of cUrl, though I could swear that’s installed too.

Also did the whole clear-cache/use "download extras" and still got the No Provider message. Tried doing a search for Wayfinder and got nothing. Neither did the tree show any entries under Demo sites.

It turns out that curl must be enabled, despite what the docs say about sockets.

What I did is went to my Xampp folder, found php.ini, uncommented the line for php_curl.dll, saved the settings file, stopped the server and then restarted it. When I reloaded the Package Management page, went to Download Extras and clicked on Demo Sites, I saw the list I expected.

As an aside, it might be useful to turn the list of Most Popular and Recently Added into hotlinks to those packages, so that they are shortcuts to those items rather than just a list of things to stare at.

But shouldn’t it be mentioned during the installation process of Revo? Or even better: Couldn’t be automatically detected during installation (and given a hint) if curl is activated or not?
