Ecommerce Solution For Revolution

I am looking to integrate an Ecommerce solution (open source, of course) into a site I will be building with Revolution 2.0. I will need the solution to allow site visitors to purchase subscriptions that, in turn, give them access to specific files (pdfs, image files, etc) for downloading. Is there a MODx-based solution that will satisfy these functional requirements and also work with Rev 2.0, or do I need to turn to a third-party application -- and if so, which one out there would work cleanly with Rev 2.0? Thanks much for the input.

Foxycart is the best hands down. Finishing up a Ecommerce site this week in Revo + Foxycart.

Foxycart allows membership/subscription through it’s system - user management between the two happens via XML feed.

I’ve been using LemonStand for a project. Easily the best eCommerce system I’ve worked with and great reporting as well. It’s open source but not free, but the time you save in development makes it rather cheap in my opinion. You can get a developer license to develop with it until you go live. The great thing about it is it’s pretty MODx like in terms of templates.

rx2 have you tried OpenCart? If you have, how does it compare to Lemon Stand?

Foxycart Isn’t another ecommerce CMS - it’s made to work specifically with other CMSs like Modx.

You basically build your own solution to your Ecommerce site using modx -


I’m still working on parsing XML for subscriptions and such - so if you like programming and keeping your cart design like your site design foxycart = yes.

rx2: I don’t see any evidence that LemonStand is Open Source. Can you provide a link to the source code?

Visit the site. Get a developers license (under Try). You can download the source code then and do with it what you want. I suppose it’s not open source in respect that you can fork your own versions commercially or for free, but you can certainly write extensions for it and modify your developer or licensed copy.

I haven’t read the fine print, but I wonder if signing the developer’s license might prevent you from working on an eCommerce solution for MODx. It could at least present an ethical dilemma.

Yes, not sure. I may have been using the term open source a bit to widely. You can view the source code and change it and develop modules for it so a bridge between the two is probably totally fine. We’re developing a bridge to and from it into an existing POS system. We’ve just found that is it the eCommerce solution we’ve been waiting for in terms of not hell to develop with, as it were.

@JNet - Did you ever get foxycart subscriptions to work? I’m about to start work on this and worrying I’m going up a blind alley.
