Using Revo RC-1: The size of my core/cache/phpthumb/ directory is almost 900 megabytes, which is especially strange since I only have about 10 MB total of images on the server.
Is it safe to delete any or all of the files in the cache/phpthumb/ folder? I keep running out of disc space on my server which throws this equally strange error message:

Well, first, what have you installed that is using phpthumb?
(Reluctantly) using the Gallery component. I can post on the Gallery support thread if you want to delete this one...

Does your PHP process have access to remove files? Otherwise I’m not sure why it’s not clearing itself...

How can I check this? I can delete files from withing the file manager, and everything else seems to be working great...

Thanks! I ended up deleting the cache while upgrading to RC2 so it’s not an immediate concern, for me anyway. It would however be great to prevent this from happening in the future!

I am still having some major problems with the phpThumb cache in both Evo AND Revo. The size of both assets/snippets/phpthumb/cache and core/cache/phpthumb are out of control. This is becoming a huge problem for me since it brings my server to a screeching halt on a regular basis as I run out of disk space.
Perhaps it’s a php configuration issue? Any suggestions on finding a solution would be greatly appreciated.

I’m having a similar problem. My /cache/phpthumb is now 4449 files, 6 GB and I hardly have anyone viewing 200 photos.
Is there a quick fix (for clearing the cache regularly) until the next Gallery update? The Gallery caching seemed to work at first and then after adding a few more galleries it started to blow up (I think).
I started another thread here because I wasn’t sure all my cache issues were Gallery related.
