MODx 0.9.7 is now MODx Revolution 2.0.0

FYI:

As part of an effort this month to better accentuate the differences between the legacy MODx code (current 0.9.6.x versions) and the new 0.9.7 code, as well as to bring our software above the 1.0 threshold, we have renamed and rebranded the MODx 0.9.7 branch. It is now known as MODx Revolution and is starting at version 2.0.0-alpha-2. We will be posting distribution packages for Revolution 2.0.0-alpha-2 this week and I will be announcing the changes in the MODx Next forum shortly.

Announcements of additional re-branding and versioning changes for the legacy MODx are coming, as well. Hang on tight...

on the off-off-off-off chance that someone’s not already on it, I think the domain(s) modxrevolution.whatever should be registered in advance of a public announcement (my registrar is currently showing no registrations for that name).

Ryan, is the product going to be "MODx Revolution" or is it still MODx and this release is branded as Revolution? Just curious and wondering what we’ll be calling it when the Revolution is 10 years old. The product-formerly-known-as-Revolution pops to mind

MODx is the "company" if you will ... the project team that makes web tools. The individual products are Evolution and Revolution ... more on that soon and I’ll add that to a blog post I’m working on. Thanks for the question!

Just keep Evolution off the main forum until the official announcement comes next week. I want to keep some mystery and anticipation. It isn’t a huge secret but any mystery is nice from a marketing perspective.

Revolution will likely be replaced in the future. When 3.0.0 is hit there will probably be a new name.

MODx is the project and Revolution branch release {code}name for the 2.0.0 (formerly 0.9.7) This will make marketing and communications for the project easier and more clear as well as making a clearer distinction between the 0.9.6x and 0.9.7 branches since they are running completely different cores in completely different ways.

Just a question, behind the name Evolution, a new version would be welcome. I suppose that it will be the former (and new) 0.9.6 RC2 isn’t it ?
So when do you plan to delivered this new version ? I am finalizing the last tests regarding AjaxSearch 1.8 and I would like that Evolution 1.0 integrate this new version of AS. let me know ?
