Tattoo Discussions

FYI, if you are interested in starting, joining, or just watching conversations related to Tattoo and/or Tattoo development, feel free to join me at my new IRC channel #tattoo on freenode.net -- if you have any trouble getting in, let me know. At some point, I’ll split the channel to isolate development discussions from less technical ones, but for now, it can serve as a place to chat on anything Tattoo-related.

Can’t we just use forum to discuss that? I’m so interested in Tattoo discussionn, but since this past few weeks, I’m unable to connect successfully to freenode.

Anyway, I’ll see whether I can install a chat system on the web, and force Jason to move his discussion channel to rhis web base chat system

That’s nice Jason, ever since #modx has been on, I must say I’ve grown fond again of IRC... plus the way Trillian handles it makes it very similar to IM...

And pick an uncommon Nick, that was what prevented me to connect to freenode at the beginning...

Didn’t know phpFreeChat used AJAX it runs pretty smooth... will be great for MODx powered community websites... is it easily skinnable ?

It is better than IRC in a sense of it will work without the issue of firewall might block IRC traffic which is very common in many network infrastructure.

I just convinced the author of phpfreechat last week to support template system. lol
I’ve talked to the author, and it seems that the chat system will be really flexible, which is one of the reason why I use it. Same like MODx and phorum, the author always try not to make the system bloated and full with useless stuff that can be added later without affecting the core. We’ll see how it will evolve.

I will try to integrate this into MODx, but my question will be, how do I access the user from this forum? Are they all automatically login to MODx, when they login to SMF? If yes, I can start implementing this for modxcms.com

That’s why I’m looking for an alternative.

I keep an eye on this phpfreechat for some time and it looks very promising. It used XAjax in the core which is a very nice, lean, powerful Ajax library in PHP.

On the side note, I mean to bring this up for sometime but keep forgeting.

I will start a separate thread on XAjax.

Sorry, I still don’t understand what’s that thing with MODx vs. Tattoo. Well, I tried the search function of the forums but I’m still confused. So will MODx become Tattoo in 1.0 - or is Tattoo a kind of fork? I remember, I was reading about both codebases to be developed?
