Manger Layouts

Hi guys,

zi and Ryan had a little discussion about stripping out the very old Manager layouts, so here we need your thoughts on this.

That’s got my vote as well.

I briefly tried the other layouts and just didn’t get on with them, I find the top bar layout much friendlier to use (and more space conservative). And, I think the top bar fits in better with the overall image of MODx, just my thoughts though

Nuke others. Much easier to manage one layout than many others. Then someone can finally make it dynamic in like 5 minutes!

What do you mean by stripping the manager layouts ? You mean this is a first phase toward the new full-css manager (where are we on this ? Any progress, ETA ? ). One thing we could focus on for the new manager is usability... if you need usability expert I know one on the french side of the forums, could ask her help in due time...

If we do this, the latest build will be down to one css file and a bunch of images... totally skinable by just dropping in another folder in manager/themes

It won’t be the non-framed layout, but it will get us closer.

Okay I got this right then... the non-framed layout is planned for what, the 0.9.5 release ? I don’t remember seing this on FlySpray’s roadmap...

I honestly don’t know when that will fall in the priorities, but certainly by 1.0. :/

Nuke the old ones...apply a few new ones. I’m trying my best to get a new one worked up that’s similar to the others that are floating around. I think something that’s nice, clean, and professional that matches the theme of the MODx site is in order. But I think we should really nuke the old ones and apply a few different color schemes for those who don’t like green.

Yeah the latest version of the menu is tops no doubt. As long as it works consistently. Seems like I’ve had issue with it "hiding" some options (CSS issues no doubt). If it happens again, I’ll screen shot it. Hasn’t reared it’s head in a while tho so I can’t even recall what the browser and other details were.
