x9.1 Release Date

I propose the following (from a conversation I had with Ryan who liked the idea):

[06:24 PM] MARKSVIRTUALDESK: what if we build some hype
[06:24 PM] MARKSVIRTUALDESK: and announce 0.9.1 to be released Friday the 23 of December
[06:24 PM] MARKSVIRTUALDESK: when it will actually be ready before then
[06:25 PM] MARKSVIRTUALDESK: so we have time for final tests
[06:25 PM] MARKSVIRTUALDESK: and build hype with a FIRM release date

Please post your opinions in this thread and vote to your left.

Sounds good but if we do I think we need to set Monday or so as a freeze on new features. Only bugfixes from then on, I don’t want to have any last-minute bugs finding their way in.

HTML emails with christmas boxes that say don’t open till X-mas.

Special forum with the same title. IF somebody goes into the new thread then have a big picture with Ryan saying "HEY! NO PEAKING!"

Filler topics could include:
Have you been a good boy or girl this year?
Have you eaten your veggies?
Are you sure you aren’t going to get any coal this year?

Now of course, we do have to put aside the "feely touchy" issues of religios conotations if we do something like this but ... ahh heck it’s still just X-mas and most folks will probably just write us off as Americans

Since October 28th with MODx’s first stable release, we’ve had more than 6500 downloads. A tremendous amount of feedback and our continuing desire and commitment to address our user’s requests and squish bugs (that are becoming very much increasingly obscure), brings us to yet another release — our last one of 2005. • NEW Personalize snippet — basic name personalization for logged in web users (great for "Welcome back, John...").
• Extensive testing with Stop-on-Notice turned on to eliminate PHP warnings (errors) that might otherwise go unnoticed, and improving the coding practices and performance.
• Bug fixes and usability tweaks galore (see the changelog in the install folder).
• And yes, as you’ve come to expect, there is more...

Are we sure we have all of the notices taken care of? Last time I checked we didn’t.

Looks great though. I’m excited to get this installed on a few sites. It sure has turned out to be more than a bugfix release, hasn’t it?
