      Hi Sam,

solid site, good feel to it.
Just one remark, but thats personal, the empty white space right top in the header is a bit...empty?
Maybe an image there, or a slider? However sliders are maybe seen to often lately? In all good site in my opinion.

        Clean, easy to navigate.

          Hi,
Very nice job! Way better than my first MODx site. smiley

I don’t mind the whitespace in the header, as it’s balanced on both sides. Interesting approach for the "persistent" footer at the bottom. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but it’s discreet and short enough, and I think it works well.

Very adept styling, and solid, professional look in the site elements. You’ve even managed to make PDF links look pretty nice. smiley

Indeed, "it’s alive", and not like Frankenstein! smiley

          Cheers, Dave

Well done, Sam! I like the fixed position footer and have been thinking of doing that for a while, but worry that some people might be confused into thinking they can see the whole page and would not know to scroll down if the content was larger than the browser window.

Small comment on the design aspect - personally, I would go for more contrast in the main content area, especially between your titles and the background. Also, I noticed that you have not set a color attribute for your <p> elements, so they will end up rendering in the browser default, usually #000. Again, personal opinion, I find black text to be rather hard on the eyes and usually go with a very dark grey or tint it slightly towards brown.

Anyhow, great job- I am in the process of building my first ModX site and hope I am as successful as you have obviously been!

              Hey Modx-ers,

Thanks for the feedback. I will take your comments into consideration.

The only downside ive seen with the fixed footer is on mobile devices (iphone),
it seems to stay in the load fixed position when you scroll. Maybe should employ
a .mobi css file. Other than that it works nicely on all the different monitors
              and resolutions.

              Thanks again,
              Sam

                Hi Sam,

Your site looks good. My only comment is not technical but more business related.

Your site does not have a testimonials section. Having one that shows your completed work builds a lot of trust and will help you get more business.

                Regards

                  Nice design. smiley

The DRIVEWAY EDGING - GARDEN EDGING - CONCRETE COATING looks a little washed out in my browser -- you might want to consider a slightly stronger text color. Also, I think your phone number needs a space after the 1.

                  Welcome to MODx. smiley

good point Jami, i pass that onto the client about the testys. (haha)

bobray the <h2> has been deliberatly made descrete, it’s only there for seo purposes.
didn’t want it to be too text heavy near the nav & <h1>.
also nice write up bob (http://bobsguides.com/MODx.html)

                    Thanks for your comments!

                    Cheers sam

I think the site looks great. I’m busily working away on my own.
