Made on MODx: Metro Modern

http://metromodern.biz/

I just wrapped up development and deployed my little pet project September 8th. It just also happens to be my first MODx based site!

I wanted to announce the launch of the site here and send a special shout out to those that helped me along the way (you know who you are). However, one special shout out to ’mrhaw’, who really came through on just about every project critical I was having during development. Thank you again!

I think understanding came once I had my templates in place and was able to actually work with content on my site. Once that happened, I have to say I was more than thrilled, impressed, thankful for the MODx team and community. What a powerful, easy, rapid and customizable tool you guys have here.

It will continue to be my CMS/CMF of choice moving forward. Way to go and thanks again!

Nice and funky! I like the bold colours, and am a sucker for big fonts. Nice <p> fonts btw!

Btw, I did a search for chair and the first result came out as:

Well done!

cheers/k

Nice to see the site up and working.

Other than IE7 layout fixing --> menu z-index? and pagination "floating".
I found out that this can be fixed by giving the parent div a float:left

...good job!

Thanks!

@knogondo

Did you search for "chair"? I did and did not get the Ditto call in the search results. Can you try that again for me?

@mrhaw

I floated the parent div left. Can you try again? I don’t have access to IE 7.0 at the moment. Thanks.

I am trying to squash these bugs now that the site is out in the world. I created the site 100% locally, so I didn’t have validators available until now. I only have two errors left until I am 100% valid! They deal with my search field not being nested in a <p> or <fieldset> I believe.

100% valid!

Hi,

Ye, I searched for "chair" and it threw that code top of the search results. Now it works fine, but I searched for "table" and it has thrown out that code again. Again it is under the "Gallery" heading and same number of results returned - 216 it says - of which like I said, the top one is that code. Weird. Some Ditto bug?

cheers/k

EDIT: Also tried "seat" - same thing, except fewer results and the code is spewed out as the second result

See my config http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,37607.msg226964.html#msg226964

Some other options
- change the results tpl to use [+as.introtext+] and then write some in "summary" field for the docs.
- &whereSearch - separate the snippet calls to another tv or document variable (e.g. introtext)

nice site.
btw, you may consider to use Sticky Footer by Ryan Fait, for pages like http://metromodern.biz/archives.html

still, good job.

Thank you all!

I will be poking away at these items over the coming days.

This is a good tool for me when testing: http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage

Thanks for the suggestion, but I work on the OS X platform. I have Bootcamp installed and can switch over to Windows XP (where I have tested Firefox 3.5 and IE 8.0), but because of the reboot needed, I prefer online tools or Mac specific ones.
