Just finished a low cost site : watermill-gite.com for a friend.
It uses a modified version of template 8 from freecsstemplate.net.
The only non standard feature is the use of CALx for the availability calendar.
MODx just made it so quick and easy, if only getting the content from the client was as easy!

Beautiful looking place. I’m tempted to book it for next summer smiley

      Typo here:
The gite is ideal for couples or small groups looking for a self catering holiday in teh heart of Brittany.

Mark, thanks for pointing out the typo, now corrected.
It does look nice, I wondered about going myself!

Nice site. I want to go there too. Maybe we could all meet up? wink

BTW, if the client agrees, you might want to put the price in Euros, and/or $ in addition to pounds. Most Americans have no Idea what the conversion rate to pounds is and many might be interested in visiting the property (I certainly am).

I imagine a snippet could get the current exchange rate and do the pricing if you want to make it exact.

Good point on the currency, I have another property site that does want live currencies so I might have to look in to creating a snippet.
I think a bit of Googling might be needed.

              This one looks pretty simple:

              http://www.talkphp.com/general/1422-creating-simple-currency-converter-automatic-symbols.html

It requires you to store the conversion factor, but you probably don’t want that to change all that often anyway or users will complain that they’re being charged more than when they booked. I guess you could put "Approximate cost in $: n "

You inspired me to do something about it, more for the other property site.
I found this and am converting it into a snippet.
It gets updated prices via an xml file from the European central Bank every 12 hours and will write them to a table in the DB for retrieval.
I think I’ll add it as a link to a lightbox window for each property with the price converted into the 6 most popular currencies.

Very nice!  grin If the base price,  base currency, and the other currencies to use are parameters in the snippet call it will make a really great addition to MODx that can be used anywhere in the world. Of course rthrash will chime in here and ask for a tpl and placeholders so let me do it for him.  wink

Having played with Revolution, I have to mention here that the Revolution Package Builder (when it’s finished) will make this a dream to package and install and will simplify the docs immensely. I can’t remember if the Package Builder will package up a non-MODx table so, with that in mind, you might want to test for the existence of the table and create it if it’s not there (that would make life a lot easier for the Evolution people too).

I’ll post back in a day or two with a snippet with params available for the input currency and the price.
Okay I’ll do some placeholders to enable an external template.
I don’t know, you think about knocking up a quick snippet and it ends up an epic wink
