Okay so I got into this MODx thing a few weeks ago, and found some time to start taking some of my client sites into the MODx-eness. I took the smallest site I have built to date and transitioned over to the MODx template I built. The whole process was easy, the only tricky part was getting the contact form to work properly, but a searches found the cure.

The graphics are old, but the html tags needed an update, I almost had to hold back the tears on how terriable my mark up was last year, still learning, but have learned a lot the last few months.

Yeah the contact margin was one of those things I just skipped on the last edit, I gave it some more breathing room, looks a little better now.

Yours is the first Modx site I’ve visited that validates. I was beginning to think I would not consider this CMS because every other site I visited didn’t have valid code.

Is it challenging to produce code with Modx that will validate? I have an existing site, written in XHTML Strict, with CSS, using unobtrusive JavaScript that I would like to convert over to using Modx.

However, I don’t want to convert only to find my code and CSS won’t validate. Or, if there is some issue with calling external JavaScript files.

LOL ... what you put into MODx is what you get out. The MODx support site itself validates, too, and is built in MODx. wink

MODx doesn’t add anything to the code and you can control pretty much any output of any snippet that you like. Even nested tables if that’s your thing! tongue

                    What???

                    http://zidesigns.com/rc/ Valid! http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fzidesigns.com%2Frc%2F

If you find some page no-validating, dont consider it as MODx fault!

Sometimes my site validates, sometimes it doesn’t, as it’s a constant ongoing development and testing site. Every now and then I go through it with the validator and clean everything up, especially the output of any snippets I’m working on.

But it has nothing to do with MODx; it’s strictly my business to use valid HTML and CSS to begin with, and check and fix the inevitable omissions and errors that I’ll make. You might as well blame spelling and grammatical errors on MODx!
