I had mentionned this earlier so some of you might have seen a first draft of the website, but it’s more or less finished thus I am posting it here. I still have to test XHTML and CSS compliancy, and cross-browser stuff but that should go fast.

It’s a very simple website, more of an online brochure right now. I did the logo on this one smiley

There should be a forum later, thus the SMF bridge will come in handy. There might be a blog and a calendar too. I’ll update this thread as features are added.

This one is running MODx 0.9.2.1 and also featuring the Autolink Module/Plugin by Garryn (very handy when you have a lot of repeated acronyms... and also repeated links). I am using the latest accents fix for this module, which works great (thanks again Garry !).

The site will go live at the end of next week, please shoot remarks !

I especially need feedback from Windows IE users with antivirus. For this website I used CSS as document method along with @import and on my computer I have a strange symptom with WinXP/IE6/Kapersky. When the real-time protection is on, any link clicked hangs the system ( huh ). It doesn’t happen with static css files, nor does this happen when using the link method (but then, CSS as documents results in styles not being rendered...).

      David,
Very nice looking site! I ran it in firefox and everything looked great, but I am having some strange results in IE. I have IE 6 with sp2. When I go to the site it loads very quickly on the first page. Any link I click after that though IE justs sits there at the loading screen for a very long time with a blank page. I’m not sure if its locked up or if it is still processing, but Firefox had no problem going from page to page. So there is definatly something weird going on with IE. Using css in a doc still seems to be a little buggy with some browsers.

Very nice and clean site David! I had no problem with two pc and IE6 (one with SP1 and one with SP2), Norton AV and an HW firewall/Router - works great for me.

Yeah it loads quickly ! I have invested in a dedicated server recently, Pentium D 930 2x3.0Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 2x80Gb SATARAID1, 100Mbps with a 300Gb traffic limit... works pretty well grin And not to expensive, around 85$ a month...

About the hanging => blank page : exactly what I have been suffering from !
It confirms that there is indeed a problem with using the @import method in IE with some antivirus software...

I’ll check this via httptracer see if some hint comes up... this is very unnerving !

I don’t want to be forced to have a static stylesheet load just for IE, I like having it all in one place... plus maintenance is so much easier with CSS as documents...

I am very much aware of this and trying to pin it down.

            Browsers, plural ?
So far only experienced this with IE, but then again I have no Mac at hand... I wouldn’t know about Safari

Thanks Banzai, great compliment coming from MODx themes’ master grin

It’s strange though that you have no problem while Kyle has some... What anitivirus are you running, Kyle ?

Another SP2 which works, means it’s not SP2... unless... who has SP2’s built in firewall enable and who hasn’t ?

I shouldn’t have said browsers, I have only experienced the problem with IE.

I do have the firewall enabled, and am running Symantec Antivirus version 9

                Thanks Kyle...

So far the problem seems to be Kapersky and Symantec (if you can try to turn it off a few seconds to check that...).

I am very curious to know how @import works really... or if it’s the MODx dynamically generated CSS that could cause the real time protection to be triggered. Googled this but no info whatsoever...

It’s really a problem, you can’t have a significant portion of your visitors with a hanging browser... I could still use the CSS as document for development and then copy paste the generated CSS into a static file once the site goes live... but I am not pleased with this.

                  David,
I disabled auto-protect and am still getting the same blank page. I tried disabling the windows firewall and that seemed to have no effect. I also tried changing the security settings in IE to allow everything and that did not fix it either. huh

It’s all very strange and hard to pin down... miight be the SP2 security settings or some other strange thing going on...
                    Thanks for reporting !

I am curious to have feedback from Linux and Mac users...
                    Anyone ?

not sure about symantec : i’m using Norton System Security (firewall+antivirus+antispam) without issue...

..should be some security settings of SP2 IE (not firewall)?
