Have you demoed concrete5.org? If you have, you must have seen the way concrete5 handles the in-content editing.
You have a toolbar on top of your page with a button to enter the ’edit mode’
once in edit mode, all editable regions(read TV’s) are highlighted when you hover over theme.
Amazing!! Way better then edit page, scroll to the (unrecognizable) tv’s, and edit these.
Love modx, but this is a killer feature of concrete5.org, maybe even worth the switch?

If the fanciest front-end editing is the most important thing to your site development, then maybe it is a better choice for you.
It’s not the most important thing for development, but after development I have to handover the site to the customer.
These are mostly not the most computer/website experienced people. A good front-end editing is a big plus for the customer.
didn’t test concrete5, but the availability of some front-end-editing / in-page editing was the reason why I chose modx over some other options.
Havent u checked new QM in the Evo 102? it loads the manager page inside the overlay and keeps the ManagerManager implementation intact.
had a short try with the demo, IMO we can do all that with Xedit, and much more and more flexible (add preconfigured bloX, inline editing, edit fields and settings for each bloX in configurable tabs, sort and move bloX and more). All of these bloX can be modxresources or data from custom-tables, or also files, if you want. Because its done with modX.
Is Xedit finally released or at least in public beta?
not yet, there is still a lot todo with internationalisation, permissions, TV-widgets, documentation and the like, but I have it run succesfully on some installations.

MODx is great, but knowing how to use it well makes it perfect!
