Current active visitors

Is there a mod that will display the number of users currently online?

There was one for Eto years ago, but made the site very unstable. With the stats element and current visitors built in features removed from 0.9.5, I was wondering if anyone had created a mod which would show current active visitors, or at least the number of visitors currently active on the site.

Thanks David. It doesn’t work with 0.9.5 though, and probably not 0.9.6. I expect it calls on the code which displays the same information in the manager, which was taken out in 0.9.5.

Sorry, I didn’t see the warning there, maybe up the NowsBrowsing thread and ask Mark if he has updated this or plans to ?

I don’t think it will work based on the fact that we’ve removed site stats from the default install due to their propensity to cause more problems than they solve.

Yes this is what I thought. What I would like to do is just to display the number of current visitors, no other information is necessary.

This looks like an interesting counter, although I haven’t snippetized it yet... uses flat files instead of database so may be worth looking into.

Well, it looks to be a simple matter of adding an include of the counter file into your templates so I doubt it would be worth making a snippet, (plus the author has alot of do not modify here stuff which I have to respect) but I have a databsase driven one in an old portal software I will likely convert over and make into a snippet (database driven) for an upcoming project which I can release here... no time frame but it won’t be too long I shouldn’t think
