    Hi everybody,

I just noticed that the link called "wiki" at modxcms.com does not lead to http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Main_Page (which I was searching for), but to http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/dashboard.action.

I suppose this is a mistake?

    Best greetings, Alex

      Hi Alex,

No, it is not a mistake. the svn....com is the official MODx wiki (o’wise known as Confluence). The wiki you were looking for is not.

      Cheers/k

Having two wikis causes a lot of confusion imho, and the new one is a loss less usable than the old one. Even if the content from the old one was moved into the new one, it would be better. Be happy to help with it.

            Adam,

You are right. I am not sure if the old one can be "shut" down though, since it is a public wiki...However, copying the old stuff to the new one is a good idea. Some stuff may need to be updated though. I think volunteers are needed to help out with the new one anyway... smiley

            cheers/k

              Hi k,

I would have said that if you disable edits on the old one - leaving it open to view - while the content is migrated into the new one, the old one could be killed off when the process is done. There’s a lot of pages on it, granted, but if the tasks are doled out right it shouldn’t take more than a week, unless there’s some messy merges to do. Start with the @’s, for example, then the API:’s, then by letter? Or perhaps by category.

Personally I’d prefer if the old one was retained, but I presume it ties into the rest of the site in some way?

The old wiki have a lot of awesome user contributed code in it!
The problem of merge that into the official documentation is that
the code is not always tested and correct.

There is no harm with too much information concerning MODx.

PLEASE volunteer to help migrate the old wiki. We do maintain the DNS and as soon as the content is properly migrated we can just re-point the DNS to the new location. We’re working on a newer skin for Confluence to make it appear more usable.

Would it be possible to create a temporary Space in Confluence for migrated documents? A straight migration would be quite easy, leaving the tricky task of merging until that’s done.

Maybe the user contributed stuff could be posted to the forums instead? On second thoughts, probably not a good idea since they’ll just get buried with new posts. Hmm, have no clue. on this..
