FF3 on the right track ! Adopted :)

I have been upset with FF 2.0.0.x ever since 2.0.0.11 / Mac I think, browser crashes, slow page loads... If it were not for FF extension I use all the time (BBCode extra, ShowIP, NoScript, and FireBug) I’d have switched to Safari by now !

So far FF3 had very few extension working but now all those I use the most are available and with FF 3 beta 5 we’re close to a release candidate
It’s fast, on Mac it’s at least 5 times faster than 2.x (as fast as Safari I’d say) and it doesn’t crash anymore

I now have made it my default browser !

I have used FF3 since beta 3 as my default browser.

I used it for a while and really liked it (it loses that nasty repeating underline bug in the code blocks in these forums), but I had dropped it because of the lack of to me necessary extensions. I’ll go have a look again if it’s got Firebug and AdBlock by now.

I’ve not had any problems with FF 2.0.x/Mac, other than an occasional lockup in gMail if I click around on things too fast.

They’ve had support for them for a while now (since Beta 3/4). Firebug was an "unofficial" port, although now there’s an official one that’s being developed by a new group (since the original author can’t develop it anymore).

Great! And... I discovered a very interesting add-on, It’s All Text. It allows you to open any textarea in the editor of your choice. So when editing a snippet or chunk or template or whatever, you can have it open in your text editor with color-coding and line numbers. It auto-refreshes the textarea at a configurable rate.

Heh. It even works here... there’s a little "edit" button at the bottom right (also configurable) of the textarea on mouseover! It stays on click, or fades out.

so, do any of you have Firebug working in FF3Beta5 b/c this is what it says on the getfirebug.com message board...

Firebug 1.1 does not work on FF3b5 or later, says: "Security Manager vetoed action"

this is my main reason for not switching yet b/c i use Firebug all the time.
