I’ve ran into a few issue with my current host, they have pulled my site down twice in recent months and have said the following:

we have been forced to suspend your site as per our terms and
    conditions ’10% CPU/Memory Policy’

For your reference, here is a copy of your usage report:
    Top Process %CPU 98.0
    Top Process %CPU 98.0 [php]
    Top Process %CPU 60.0 [php]

I asked them what I could do to address this issue and got this back:

I’ve unblocked web site for your IP address.
There is a problem with CMS installed onto yourdomain.com
It is called MODx Content Management System and PHP Application Framework
This is not widely used software, therefore, we don’t have some specific instructions of how to optimize it for better performance.
I advice you to contact its developers.
Also that would be nice if you check/repair database periodically via cpanel.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I could do help improve it?

    Many Thanks

I can’t think of any reason why you’d have that type of problem with Evo at all if you’re not running plugins or snippets. That being said you really should upgrade your version of MODX. Where are you hosting?

Thanks for that - Currently hosting with Just Host, I am pretty sure it is due to hight traffic volumes and we may have to switch to a dedicated server. Current Monthly Bandwidth Transfer 56768.07 / ∞ MB

You could use this snippet to find out the execution time for either a chunk or snippet. Might help you narrow down to the most time-consuming resource user.

I’ve used Just Host, can’t say I’ve had issues with modx rev version 2.0.4 + 2.0.6.

Saying that 55GB of data transfer is pretty high up. Do you have any high resolutions images/ videos/ streaming on your site? This can of course be genuine traffic, just double check that through the webstats.

              Updating Evo is always helpful.

Thanks a lot for the input!

Didnt know about that snippet will certianly take a look.

We do have quite a few images and for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to create images as high qulaity pngs when I first started the site shockedops: maybe I should go through and revert them all the gifs.. not sure how much this would change much. I have never really thought the site its self loads slow and never had any complaints.

Not sure what is classed as high traffic, but get around 2k hits a day.

I have set most of the pages to Cacheable already, but I think most of the snippets are uncached, maybe I can go through these and set some to cached..

Do you have a link for the site in question? I might have some ideas that will help with the load. Also have you considered looking into a managed VPS server, it’s likely going to be more cost effective.

A site with 2k traffic shouldn’t have any issues, I’ve got one on my server pushing around 4k unique a day without any problems.

                      modx_event_log (1.8MB)

Look into System Events tab if there are reports of some errors.
