Who is your Domain Registrar?
Who do you recommend?

I have been using NameCheap.com for many years. I have been very pleased with them. However, I recently had one of my domains expire and learned the following:

• Reactivation Period is only 27 days

• Reactivation Period may be refused at their option, they may sell, retain ownership, auction or erase your domain.

• RGP If your domain survives into the RGP - Redemption Grace Period - they require $200 plus regular registration fee for reactivation of the Domain.

Some registrants offer better terms than this. I would like to find them and transfer.

I am using HostMonster for hosting some sites (http://ClearyBaptist.org, others in development) and GoDaddy for DNS (http://KevinIvy.com).

Never had any DNS / registration issues with either. Both are inexpensive.

I’m tired of GoDaddy’s incessant up-selling checkout process. Now it seems I can’t use the payment methods on file after yet another UI upgrade. Looking at name.com and enom.com as alternatives. Anyone use either one? I just want a straightforward checkout free of multiple up-sell screens and the ability to handle DNS and mange my URLs in a straightforward manner.

Not that anyone but me would ever let a Domain go into RGP, but it is worth noting that ENOM.COM’s Redemption fee is currently $250.00

I’ve been using enom with good results. It ties into by billing system nicely and the prices have been stable and reasonable. The main issue I have with them thus far is they don’t offer refunds so when you sign up make sure you get things right ahead of time.

I have been debating namecheap.com as a second option as they are cheaper for TLDs and also work with my billing system. They are similar to enom, but beyond that my experience with them is limited.

If you can avoid them I would highly recommend you avoid GoDaddy. I find their interface overly complicated and difficult to accomplish simple tasks. They upsell like crazy to the point of annoyance and on top of that all I question if they are dedicated to their bottom line or providing a quality service. I’ve been helping a few friends make the move away from GoDaddy and the difference shows!

After using GoDaddy and RegisterFly, I am using Namecheap, lot less clutter than GoDaddy and DNS features are good enough.

@AMDbuilder: Namecheap is reseller of eNom IIRC.

Hostmonster also uses eNom, I believe.

I also use namecheap (for about 2 years) and haven’t had any problems with them.
