Calender

OK, I seriously need a good calender snippet/module, one you don’t have to create pages for events. A calender that you can just click "new event" and it’ll make a new event on that day. Is there a calender like that? Cause I haven’t been able to find it?

You could try using Jot; I’m finding it useful for a lot of relatively simple "lists" of things, with the added benefit that each item is editable/deletable. Run without any permissions in the parameters, only logged-in Manager users can add or moderate items. A bit of javascript voodoo and you can even have date pickers, rich text editors and the resource browser for files and images available.

Anyone know if EasyEvent is being re-dev’d for Revo? - or any similar calender utility other than churchevents?

I’ve written a calendar snippet that uses the manager for authentication (anyone that can log into the manager is considered a calendar admin, otherwise they are anonymous), and then displays the days. If you are an admin each day gets an "add" button. I use jQuery to pop up a modal dialog box you fill the details out, and then it Ajax POSTs it to save events. If you click an existing event then you can edit it.

Public users can click the event names to view (but obviously not edit) the event details in a jQuery popup. All the layout is doing using chunks & css so it should be pretty easy to template.

It’s pretty basic (but serves my needs). The main problem others may have is that the granularity only goes as far as days (i.e. you can’t specify the time of an event), and events only have a start and an end date. No support for repeating events etc.

I haven’t worked out how to package it for Modx yet, but I can post the source in a zip here and you’d have to install it manually (i.e. create snippets/chunks etc) if anyone is interested?

Thanks, looks good and I’d be up for giving it a shot if you’d be so kind as to post the source. As you mentioned, more granularity would be ideal, but it sure looks functional as you demo’d it.

I was looking for something for a project which hasn’t happened so I won’t be hitting it immediately, but I’ll integrate into my portfolio instead and feed back asap.

I’m going to need some time to tidy the code up a bit, but will aim to post it at the weekend. If I can figure out how to package stuff then I’ll create a proper package otherwise will post just a zip file with the plain php.
