So I’ve downloaded and looked through the wayfinder ebook, but couldn’t find what I’m looking for - It’s probably in there, but I don’t really have time to read every page trying to find it. Searching got me nowhere sad

Anyway, to the problem... (website can be seen @ http://redbankstas.com.au/build/)

I have 3 levels of navigation with the first level using a simple horizontal menu.

I’m trying to build the secondary navigation that appears on the second level shows everything in the level below (3rd level) and on the third level shows everything also in the third level with the same parent (eg. home > events & functions > product launches)

I’m using one template for both levels and the WF call is
    [[Wayfinder? &startId=`[*id*]` &level=`2`]]

This works fine on the second level pages (eg. events & functions), but displays nothing on the third level. I’m thinking the ultimateparent may be able to help me, but I couldn’t get anything going with a quick tinker.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers

          &startId=`[*id*]`
always starts the navigation via WF at the current page. Therefore at the third level you doesn’t get any navigation because there isn’t a level 4. You should need the UltimateParent snippet for the startId with the toplevel parameter:
          [[UltimateParent? &topLevel=`2`]]

            change your level to 3.

Kayle has excellent examples and a complete list of params here:

My bad, I’ll try to explain a bit better...

Say I have the following document structure:

              •Home
              •Page One
              •One Subpage A
              •One Subpage B
              •Page Two
              •Two Subpage A
              •Two Subpage B

What I’m looking for is a sub-navigation panel one pages one and two and also on their children. I want the navigation on "Page One" to contain the items "One Subpage A" and "One Subpage B".

When I’m on "One Subpage A" I also want "One Subpage B" available.

What I don’t want is "Page One" or "Page Two" in any of this navigation. The menu has lots of ever changing docs so can’t filter by id, I would have thought I could set a level to start the call as well as stop.

Does that explain a bit better?

I’ve looked at Kayes parameters but couldn’t see what I needed (not saying it’s not there)

              Cheers

                See if this works:
Use wayfinder to show as many levels as you want. In the Page One container deselect Show in menu.
                  MySQL: 5.0.45
                  PHP: 5.2.6
                  Linux 2.6.9-023stab048.6-enterprise #1

                  PDO enabled

Nope...won’t work; Hide the parent and the child doc is hidden too unfortunately.

I still don’t get you 100% (but then again I’ve been known to be slow wink ) but I think UltimateParent is your friend here as suggested by Rasc above. Did you try the code he/she supplied?

                    [!Wayfinder? &startId=`[[UltimateParent? &topLevel=`2`]] &level=`2`!]

Notice WF is called uncached in this instance.

                    cheers/k

The other issue with hiding from menu is the other navigation needs it???

So with the uncached call ultimate parent is now working - sort of.

Now I have the right navigation on the level 2 pages (pages one and two in the example) but nothing in the level 3 pages sad

I’ll keep on trying stuff, I might need to rearrange the document structure a bit to get where I want to be...
