    Hi,

I’m sure this question has been asked before, but I’m looking for recommendations for a host (preferably UK-based) who is geared towards ModX.

Price is obviously a consideration, but I’m quite prepared to pay for a host with good features and quality service and support.

Any ideas or information on things I should look for when searching for a ModX host would be invaluable.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Tony.

I’m happy with my VPS with Clook, they seem quite responsive and I haven’t had any network problems. It’s 49 pounds a month for the VPS, and I’ve already got five domains on it.

There is a MODx forum member that runs a hosting company in the UK.

          Here is his site http://www.onesmarthost.co.uk/modx-hosting?modx

When I visited the site I see that the hosting is on Windows servers. I thought ModX was suited to a server running Apache?
Does anyone have an opinion or advice on this issue?

There is a section of the forum dedicated to issues involving MODx on IIS. There usually isn’t much trouble running MODx on Windows servers running Apache.

I use One Smart Host for one of my MODx sites (high traffic) and I can confirm that it runs fine.
There are some minor adjustments needed for running on IIS with FURL enabled, but Aaron was very helpful in getting ISAPI Re-write set-up to take the place of the .htaccess file.

                    Thanks David,

I’m considering offering hosting for the first year for free including a domain name for MODx lovers a small setup fee may be required this is to mainly promote MODx on a Windows environment and help spread the good word of MODx and that it does also work on Windows with IIS, if anyone thinks this might be useful please let me know and I will draw up the offer page.

                    Thanks

                    Aaron

Let me toss in a bit of unsolicited praise for Aaron and One Smart Host ... he has MODx in Windows/IIS environments down cold (most importantly with full support for FURLs!) and a tremendous asset to the MODx community. Thanks Aaron. smiley
