    Hi,

    I’ve been trying to add the Gallery package and getting errors;

    An error occurred while connecting to the Provider: MODx received a blank response from the provider. Please double check your service URL and make sure the provider is a valid provider.

    This shows up on the left hand side under Package Browser and the right hand side table when trying to find Gallery. It seems that only some packages are avilable for install using the package manager at the moment.

    Providers is set to;
    http://rest.modxcms.com/extras/

    Am I doing something wrong?
    Regards,
    Dave

      1. Make sure cURL is installed.
      2. Change the provider URL to: http://rest.modx.com/extras/

        It happens with CURL enabled, too.
        2nd option should work.

          Unfortunately it already is set at that URL.

          Other packages seem to installing normally though, just did tagLister 100% OK.

          Back to the drawing board...

            Erm, I meant change to:

            http://rest.modx.com/extras/

            Sorry about that, cut+paste error.

              Sorry about that, cut+paste error.

              I was thinking about that (modx<->modxcms)... smiley

              Changed over but the error still persists. I should probably mention that curl is installed and working correctly too.

              Slightly puzzled now. But the site I’m working on has managed in install all the other packages (thus far)... haven’t tried Gallery before, could it be a dependency thing? Please excuse my ignorance, still getting to grips with this wonderful system.

              Best,
              Dave

              Update;
              Still not working and have tried with Apple Safari and Firefox (no Chrome on this box) - same errors persist, only with Gallery...

                I really need to crack on with this and installing Gallery through package management is still not working. Is it advisable to install by hand?

                  I’m trying out 2.1 rc1 - and having issues with the Package manager, which can be worked around:

                  I am informed that various packages need updating - some I click update and everything ’just works’ - others (such as getpage) don’t (it would tell me that the package was current - so ’it’ knew that it needed updating but maybe not where to get it), I found that if clicked on ’Add New Package’ selected modx.com rather than modxcms.com and then added the package I would get the new version and the old version was gone, but it would not be installed - click install and I’m good to go (I hope).

                  In both cases Package manager lists the Provider as modx.com now.

                  edit - this did not work for ’docmanager’ I have what seems to be the latest version - 2.1 beta 6, provider modxcms.com - the updater offers to ’update’ it to 2.1 beta 2, and then fails - going the add package route fails since it thinks the package is installed, I may try to remove the package and then start over but I have other things to do right now!

                    I tried your approach by "Add New Package" - double checked the provider was set to <http://rest.modx.com/extras/> but it still comes up with the same errors above.

                    Update;

                    Added (Gallery) manually -- it worked and was painless.

                      For others, you can download the package to your core/packages directory. Then in Package Manager, click on "Add Package" and "Search Locally for Packages."
                      That will put the package in the PM grid.
